I started playing a few years ago during the end of 3rd edition 40k. A few of my high school friends had just gotten into the hobby, so I found myself at my LGS staring at an intimidating wall full of seemingly impossible choices. I wasn't sure what to pick, and after about 1,000 questions to the clerk, he gave me the most sage advise: 'I don't care, pick something you think looks cool." Very wise man, him, because my first purchase was a walking trashcan with a pair of scissors for an arm. Very cool indeed, and the start of my first passion, the Space Orks.

I got out of the hobby around 2009/2010, but recently saw some really crazy looking stuff in my new LGS that really piqued my interest, so I'm back into it.

Big questions I have for the forum is:

Are Orks still a viable choice for somewhat competitive play with the current rule set?

I haven't picked up a copy of the current edition rulebook yet, but I hear talk of challenging squad leaders? How does this work?

Anyways, I will eventually put up some pictures of my remaining boyz, and I look forward to discussing 40k once again.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Not where I should be

Hi and welcome.

Orks are, as ever, totally based on luck. But there are some amazing models out there and loads of opportunity if you like to convert and play.

I will look for you on the forums.
