Don't know enough about other armies, but please for the love of the Emperor give IG tanks (mostly LRs) e spli firte rule. If Igive my vanquisher a stubber to help it counter infantry, let it shoot at knfantry with my bolters while the main gun continues to shoot down other tanks. Or would this be uncorrect fluff wise, or OP?

His war machines will crush you under their treads. His mighty guns will bring the very sky crashing down upon you. You cannot win. The Emperor has given us His greatest weapon to wield. So make yourselves ready. We are the First Kronus Regiment, and today is our Victory Day. " - Governor-Militant Lukas Alexander, Commander 1st Kronus Regiment |

Split Fire is the last thing they need, what about Lumbering Behemoth? And why only IG tanks? I'd love to be able to fire a Bright Lance at a tank and the Shuriken at some infantry.

All vehicles should have split fire. That's the whole point of having a crew.

I could'nt agree more on this point: all vehicules should have this ability to shoot at multiple targets for three reasons: first, it's logical, second, it's fluff wise better, finally, it would make them all more interesting both to play and to deal with. In case they become too powerful, up the prices a little to compensate and there you go. But i mean, if each vehicule can do it they should compensate one antoher's upgrade and they may even notbe the least change needed!
As far as i've experienced multi-targetting tanks, in Bolt Action it does not create issues and in my opinion it deserve to be set in 40k.

First of all, split fire wouldn't do what you described as far as I can tell. Split fire itself allows one model in the unit to fire at a separate target from the rest of the unit, not for one model in the unit to target multiple enemy units with its weapons. The rule POTMS allows vehicles to multi target among other benefits, and can be granted to a single vehicle by an enginseer. As for fluff I can't recall or find any mention of IG tank weapons being manned by less than one person per gun, so it does make sense. You could probably let sponsons fire independently, because with the exception of the plasma cannon all of the sponson weapons are fairly low-damage even against infantry.

I think the idea is that IG tanks (and all tanks I figure by extension) should be able to freely shoot their weapons at any number of targets.
I'm behind it. Makes sense, isn't game breaking, might promote more varied weapon loadouts on tanks.

To answer you question, I said IG tanks because I know them, I can't speak for Eldar tanks because I don't know them. I would assume they should too, but never assume anything.
Ah prehaps split fire isn't the rule I'm looking for, perhaps just say in thew BRB vecheiles can shoot seperate from each other in a unit 9lets be bloody honest, Pask kills something in his tank, why the hell does the next tank HAVE to shoot the same thing, even if they shot at the same time, they really could shoot at different things).
True, worst case sernario you up the cost of tanks (but not for IAV1E2!!!)

Well, i reckon we're discussing split fire as the concept of shootig separate targets with a single tank and at one time, not as the rule. To be honest I think no tank gets this rule simply because since they have no morale value, they wouldn't be able to check it...

Me and some of my friends have bin playing so that each gun of a vehicle can shot at something different. Works well and helps the vehicles kill there points worth for once.

While totally appropriate, I bet that
a) Many players would bitch up a storm
and
b) Vehicles would STILL be bad

Could you please develop? I actually can't seem to understand what you meant. Why inapropriate? Why still bad? Why would player encounter any particular problem?

No, tanks targeting different target IS absolutely appropriate. I'm saying this house rule would get flak from many MC users and STILL wouldn't make up for the sorry state of vehicles.
