This thread is going to document the campaigns of my Tivan regiment, anyone can have an imput and change the course of the campaign
The first Campaign is the pacification of Bakra, an temperate world.
The uprisers are commanded by the former PDF commander, Lord Geveral. Their forces are mainly made up of the basic rebels armed with reclaimed weapons, mainly old rifles and various weapons, their overall strength is 100,000 men. The core of the rebellion is made up of the original PDF troops who are well equipped and ready for our attack, their strength is 10,000men
Our strength is the scout platoon is made up of 1,000 specialist scouts. The main bulk of our force is the 50,000 trained but not proven guard troops, there is a final mounted brigade of 4,000 wolf chargers.
Your task imperial commander is to choose the area to land the troops.

We need more details. What do the different green areas represent, forests or hills, the grey green, is that hills or swamp. Are the black spots cities, or just villages. Also, why such a small force to pacify it - the Imperial Guard are grand masters of overwhelming force.
It would be unusual (or though perfectly plausible) for a single IG regiment to be the first to respond to a call.

So the greyish area at the top are the mountains, the larger black dot in the centre is the main hive city of Corgis and thr other black dots are smaller towns or villages. The lighter green show forests.
This is the only force within range to be combatting it as the Waagh Urgok has taken the majority of the imperial guard regiments and forces in the area, and as this is seen as more minor it can be dealt with later.
Also more information on the troops themselves for the regiment
The scouts are a more savage troopa and can be depended on for reliable intelegence even if they are nigh on unintelligible.
The mounted wolf cavalry came from those scouts on their homeworld of Tivan who had previously captured and used them as hunting beasts.
The scouts uniforms were not normal and were their normal overalls with an armoured head and shoulder section, this was coloured bronze, its like an extended hood. The normal imperial guardsmen armour was a burnished bronze colour with dark grey under clothes.
The main reason for the lesser number of guardsmen is mainly due to their decimation as they had a rebellion which nearly fully destroyed the regiment, this has caused them to be sent on the more suicidal missions. Their rebellion was triggered by the regiments primarus psykers that were corrupted by the scout company as they had dark beliefs and missions that the regiment did not know of, this caused a regiment of formerly 1,000,000 imperial guard called the bronze legion. The scout companys made up 200,000 of the 1,000,000 imperial guardsmen. The scout rebellion occoured while their troop transport was in the warp. When the transport made it out of the warp travel 1 in 10 men were executed, those that made it out of the warp and the decimationwas around about 57,000 imperial guardsmen with the current organisation involved. This being their first battle after the infighting happened.

Ok, my choice would be to deploy to take the mountain settlement. Taking that gives you a defaceable high ground

Ok, so as you begin to land in the high land you see in the area surrounding you dust clouds being formed, probably by the people of the rebellion.
But because of your choice to deploy in the mountains you have a more defencable position but at the moment you have only deployed 25,000 imperial guardsmen, you can choose if they are scouts or mounted scouts or entirely guardsmen.
The current leader of the first task force into the mountains is sir (Cornel) Valafrin, what are your orders to him?

Pure Guardsmen, dig in and create a defensive position and continue to bring down troops, have all landers armed for close air support (Even if it is just crewmen sticking Lasgun out of hatches - depends on what sort of landers are being used Automatically Appended Next Post: Also mark out ranges for orbital bombardment

As the guardsmen dig in they bring up the heavy weapons, the larger clouds of dust have coalesced into one large cloud.
From your well defended position with the troop carriers ferrying 1,000 guardsmen per drop, you see the main conponent of the enemy force making trenches surrounding the mountain region.
Straight in front of you spot the gold armour of the Lord as he is surrounded by the pdf troopers who are in the proces of starting the trenches in front of you.
He voxes over "We are the collective of the burning sun, and you will submit."
After he says this the mortars of the pdf start bombarding your position, multiple times your landing craft are nearly hit by the many heavy bolter shells or the streams of energy from the lascannons.
What are your plans?
Ps during this time 10,000 men have been ferried down choose what type of troops they are and how they will be used.

Prepare to vox local Imperial stations for the situation and reinforcement.
Hold my troops and fortify the position. Land another third of my army behind the enemy lines, near the forests, preferably the cavalry to disrupt their mortars from the rear.

Instruct the orbiting ships to commence a sustained bombardment on the enemy lines. (even transports will have small batteries the size of earth shaker guns)

The ships turn and face the planet, they open fire with their batterys, and destruction is sewn. The firepower that was hitting your position previously died out with a quickness, the massive explosions racked the area infront of the regiment. Many bodys flew up in the air.
But the majority of them formed up round the Lord and his surrounding trench work as rituals were taking place, you are not sure what rituals. From what you can see their casualties seem to be quite substantial, in the 10,000-15,000 dead range.
