Hello Everyone, I'm a new (well, returning) player and I started a new Space Marine army (Raven Guard chapter) in August and have recently finished painting it. I've been playing some games with it since the end of November and I have to say i'm fairly thrilled with how it looks and performs. I've had some great games against my old man's Chaos and Eldar and It's had only one major curb-stomping when it managed to get blown to bits by some Iron Warriors, most likely due to my inept decisions to come out of cover and fail charges. It's a very fluffy battle force and great fun to play with generally, and I have been tweaking it here and there from game to game to keep it fresh.

As you can see from the breakdown, It is a Raven Guard Talon Strikeforce, made up of a Pinion Battle Demi-Company, and a Shadowstrike Kill Team with a captain and 2 assassins within it.

Alongside this list that I have posted, in terms of the models that I currently own, I also have an assembled Raptor Wing, a Librarian, and Korvydae. I've used these models in a few games but haven't really been able to get much use out of the librarian, he's torn between getting forward with the fast attack assault units, and hanging back with the long range snipers and devastators etc. sometimes he can be a bit of a forgotten man within the battle.

So, I put this list together because I thought it seemed very cool, and is in-keeping with the general fluff of this army, of infiltrating snipers, and covert black ops that some of the formations allow me to do, such as outflanking, and removing cover etc. by spotting for the other units within the army.
As the Talon Strike force allows first turn reserve rolls, I think the Callidus fits in nicely by forcing the first enemy reserve roll of the game to be at -3, so on 6. This helps to represent some of the surprise blitzkrieg tactics of the army, causing disarray between lines of communication and what not (or at least that's how I imagine it during the combat) and her sibling in the Vindicare works well with the sniping elements of the army as he can shoot at some vehicles and try and get warlord. I'd have the captain and the chaplain attatched to the squad of assault marines.

I don't expect this to be a tournament winning list list or anything of that nature, though i'd take it to a local tourny if I fancied a few games over a few days. I just thought I'd share this idea and see where you guys feel it could be improved upon.

Thanks for taking a look, and apologies if there's any minor errors in the calculations.

Nice to see another RG player! I played them in 40k for a minute, but I'm so enamored with 30k now I sold them off to fund more heresy! I like the list, it is similar to what I ran before when i was playing the pinion company. I still have both of those assassins as well, and am looking forward to painting up my Vindy as the callidus is done! Her ap2 flamer is so wonderfully nasty!

I have both of them and no 40k list to put them in lol I only play eldar aside from that so that wouldn't really fit super well

Keep up the RG boss!

You are missing out on 2 of the 3 best things this formation provides.

-Spammable scout-bikes that provide ignore cover to your pinion and can take homing beacons to get your vangards on target everytime for a T1 charge.

-Command squad on bikes with grav guns benifiting from ignore cover from scout bikes.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.
