Hi all,

Just a quick rules interpretation. On page 10 of the Age Of Darkness army list it mentions how we can use different Super Heavy vehicles in SM lists to represent the wider amount of options they had available e.g Baneblades etc.

It mentions how if "general options are not found on the vehicles profile or within this book, or refer explicitly to the 41st millennium (commissar tanks) ignore those options" but we can of course always take Space marine crew upgrades (+1 BS)

So in Book IV Conquest it lists the profiles for a number of super heavies including the shadow sword (which we can take) and it has a number of options. 1 of those is Targeters for +1 BS.

So my interpretation of this is that I could take a shadow sword for 455 PTS + targeters free + space marine crew + 15 PTS

So I could have a BS 5 shadow sword for 470 points?

I know it's not quite as tough as the falchion on the table in terms of armour. But BS 5 instead of twin-linked and at lot nicer on my wallet thanks to a local gaming stores discounts makes this seem like a nice attractive super heavy option.

Anyone else think these rules are correct?

The targeters replace sponson lascannons which have to be bought for 50 points first.

It's legal, but it's garbage. You're paying 520 points for the buffed Shadowsword, compared to 540 for a Falchion with space marine crew. For +20 points you get +3 HP, a twin-linked main gun (much more accurate than 1" less scatter distance), and four TL lascannons instead of two TL heavy bolters in the sponsons. That's way more than 20 points worth of value, and that's not even counting the Falchion's incredibly powerful neutron wave capacitor upgrade. Remember that most LoW are armed with blast weapons which can't fire snap shots. So that 3000 point Warlord titan can be turned into a useless paperweight for the entire game by a 600 point Falchion.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Fair enough, though it is over £100 cheaper in monetary terms. Might still get 1 for Perturabo and can run the other confit if not using him until I get a falchion... though I do also have a spare volcano cannon so could try and kitbash a baneblade chassis falchion variant if I get another box!
