So I usually play very run forward short range armies so I decided to try and use a very agressove strategy so I decided with my 30k army to try and do a much more defensive army. This is what I ended up with.

HQ:

Auxilia Tactical Command Section
2 Grenade Launchers on Veterans

Auxilia Tank Commander (attached to Leman Russ Strike Squad)

Elite:

4 Auxilia Medicae (1 in each rifle section)
3 Quad Mortar Rapier
3 Quad Mortar Rapier
3 Quad Mortar Rapier

Troops:

Tercio 1
Rifle Section
-Blast Chargers
-Aegis with Quad Gun
Rifle Section
-Aegis

Tercio 2
Rifle Section
-Blast Chargers
-Aegis with Quad Gun
Rifle Section
-Aegis

Fast Attack:
3 Leman Russ Vanquishers
-Lascannons and Extra Armour

Heavy Support:

Auxilia Malcador Infernus Special Weapons Tank
Auxilia Valdor Tank Hunter
-Armoured Ceramite
Auxilia Valdor Tank Hunter
-Armoured Ceramite

So the basic idea is to use the HQs to support the Leman russ and devastating enemy vehicles by boosting them to BS4 and re-rolling pens. Them and the two tank hunters form the back bone of my anti armour. All the mortars hide out of line of sight, units with blast chargers hide in the rear files on the Quad Gun, units without take the front line. the center is held by the malcador to put some big hurt on whoever advances towards my line.

Drop the extra armour and armoured ceramite and add a second Auxilia tank commander.

Then I would put both Tank Commanders in the Valdors and put the TCS near the Vanquishers.

Boom, 5 BS4 tank hunters instead of 1.

Waaaaaaaaaaay too much anti-tank. I know 30k has a lot of armor, but I think you surpassed your need at the expense of your other needs. The Quad Mortars all have Shatter shells, which will deliver some hurt to pretty much anything that isn't Flare Shielded AV14. One Valdor is usually enough, since it will be gunning for nasty enemy super-heavies and not much else.

The Leman Russ, honestly, isn't worth it. I would scrap them for Dracosans and some Veletaris squads to give you mobility. Right now, your scoring units are stuck behind ADLs and can't reliably or easily relocate to a far away objective.

I love the Infernus - that is a good call. Much needed unit to help erase threatening Marine blobs.

How about something like this:
HQ:
Lord Marshal
Paragon Blade, Digital Lasers, Grav-Wave Generator, Artificer armor, Iron Halo, Cyber-Familiar, Volkite Serpenta
[165]

Jovan CANNOT ride along on Dracosans.

edit.

Just to clarify:

From the Dracosan unit entry: The Dracosan Armoured Transport can transport 20 models, but may not transport Bulky or larger models.

From Aevos Jovan's entry, who is equipped with the auto-gurney: In addition, a model equipped with an auto-gurney gains the Very Bulky special rule.

Crap. How did I miss that on the Draco entry?! They just have to complicate things, don't they?

Honestly, Jovan isn't probably "optimal" anyhow. A standard Medicae unit frees up points and does the job just about as well. He just happens to look awesome. :( Stupid Dracosan rules ruining all my fun.

Rather, this was done so that Charonites cannot be trucked to anywhere on the table in a jiffy. Though seeing as the Dracosan is not an assault transport, wouldn't have mattered much anyway.

Aevos Jovan works wonders in Zone Mortalis missions, where he is best served alongside a tooled up Lord Marshal and Household Retinue unit, preferably behind a unit of Charonites.

Back on topic, OP, are those Vanquishers going to outflank or not? That may be a make or break point in using them. I run two in my own army and the ability to outflank them has been most useful for me to date.
