Hey all. Threw something together to start a core for a potential Guard army startup. Some notes about how the army is meant to work will be at the bottom.

The idea is that the core, being the Infantry Platoon and Leman Russ, move up slowly or just park and shoot depending on the opponent. The Company Command Squad sits within 6" of the Lascannon team, using Volkov's Cane to let the Lascannon team shoot at whatever it needs to and letting the 4 vets go to work on MCs or troublesome characters with the sniper rifles. Scouts and Vets move up flanks or around to objectives as needed. Vets can suicide rush to the rear armor of an important enemy vehicle if need be to drop their melta into it.

Did I miss anything major?

Few things I'd do differently.
Command squad; I've never had much luck with snipers, unless you just had a spare 2 pts. My meta is all Space Marines so unless you roll 6's it's just not killing what you want

The infantry platoon: I'm not a fan of heavy weapons squads particularly for expensive guns like lascannons. It's to easy to kill a 2 wound guardsmen. Move them into the actual squads so you have a some bodies to die first. Better put one in the HQ command squad, it's the same cost but they are bs:4.
Also not using the special weapon slot in the squads is a shame. A flamer is only 5pts and will kill more than all the rest of the lasguns.

Veterns: Good no change, just don't think you have to get them to rear armor for the kill anything within 6" will get hurt from 3 meltas.

Sentinels: I say armored sentinel or not at all. AV:10 open topped means you have a dead vehicle. Scout and move through cover isn't worth it compared to the AV 12 front. A multi laser armored sentinel Is better than an autocannon scout, from my experience.

Lemon Russ: the main gun is ordinance so all other weapons snap fire. Don't waste points on sponsons that only hit on 6's spend those point buying more guns for other units.

Other than that it's a good start, you just have some weapon choice changes and placements.

Doesn't having Lascannons mixed into squads force the entire squad to waste their shooting on whatever I need the Lascannons to kill? As it stands now I can issue orders twice to split fire, but that's all I can do. The idea was to park the Lascannon teams in some good cover and keep them screened by the basic infantry squads, or even block LoS with the Leman Russ.

True, but it's the way I prefer. Heavy weapons squads for me always seem to get picked off. To dangerous and easy to kill for the opponent to ignore. One solid round of bolter fire from a space marine Tactical squad can kill them even with cover saves. And you won't be able to completely protect them. Also at 3 models in the unit if even one dies your forced to make a moral check at only ld:7.

Maybe you'll have better luck, try them out both ways make your own opinion.
