Hi all,

I find myself a bit confused regarding World Eaters inductii squads and what FNP save they get. I've seen a few battle reports in which they have been played as having +1 FNP so, with an apothecary attached to them, they would have 4+ FNP. Is this correct?

Thanks,
Ed

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Is a 1+ anything even possible?

I'm not saying they get 1+ FNP, I'm saying that I've seen them played as getting +1 to their FNP roll. So they would have 6+ FNP on their own and 4+ FNP if they are accompanied by an apothecary.

That happens with a specific WE rite of war and only in the enemy's deployment zone.

Inductii can get a 4+ FNP from Gahlan Surlok, who is required to make them inductii in the first place.

A: Inductii squads are in the thread title.
B: Gahlan Surlok is required for Inductii squads to exist.

In Horus Heresy Book Six: Retribution, there is a World Eaters Special Character, Gahlan Surlak (sorry, it is an A, not an O), who is a fancy Primus Medicae. In addition to granting FNP (4+) instead of (5+) he also can make some number (might be only one?) Tactical squads in the army into a super unit through the use of drugs and whatnot. They gain a variety of bonuses.

So he's not been added to the red books? That explains that.

This is what I thought but in the battle reports I've seen, they used berserker assault and their inductii squads had a 4+ FNP with a normal apothecary and a 3+ FNP with Gahlan. They said that the inductii squads get +1 to their FNP rolls.

It can be as many tactical squads as you like

Those battle reports are likely misunderstanding or misinterpreting the rules. I suggest asking them.

That's what I figured but I thought I'd better ask the community in case I'd missed something

It's possible, of course, that I am mistaken. I suggest asking them directly.

I have dug deeper on the subject and apparently, they get 6+ FNP base and +1 FNP if they get it from any other source such as an apothecary (so 4+ FNP in this case). It is supposed to be being added to the errata at some point.

It is capped at 3+ though.

Huh. Well until it is in the Errata we will probably wait on it in my area.

Where did FW say it would be a +1 to FNP?

RaW, it just gives them a 6+ FNP, doesn't say anything about improving an existing one.

I don't have an official source, just a comment on one of the video batreps I watched. The commenter said that they had emailed forge world to clarify and had received that response.

I have seen no such rule so far saying you get +1 to FNP if you already have a FNP 6+ and are granted FNP via say an apothecary.

There is a Batrep on the net where they play it incorrectly the entire game and they even say they did it wrong after.

That is probably the batrep you are talking about. The one where the WE player destroys the EC army?

Maybe FW is going to update the rule but until an official errata, its you take the best of your FNP skill number + and then its modified only if something directly says its modified by say a Right of war.

Its still worth taking an apothecary as they get a 5+ FNP then anyway, then with RoW.....however I prefer the WE RoW that grants hatred outside of deployment zone as re-rolling all misses in CC in all combats outside you own deployment zone IMO is better

Apos cant join inductii squadssinxe they are characters (neither can independant characters) as per Surlaks rule

And of course FNP never stacks unless soecifically noted only the best FNP applies

So much false information in this thread! Read the rules before commenting people!

Inductii are unlocked by having Surlak in your army, and they have an innate 6+ FNP save.

Inductii can only be joined by Surlak AND OTHER WORLD EATER APOTHECARIES. Surlak grants a 4+ to himself and his unit. Generic apothecaries grant the standard 5+ FNP. The innate FNP of the Inductii is overwritten in either case, at least until the unit loses the apothecary.

There is further a unique Rite of War for the World Eaters that grants them a +1 to FNP rolls while in enemy deployment zone.

So Surlak's unit (whatever it may be) will have a 3+ FNP, other apothecaries' units will have 4+, and Inductii with no apothecaries will have a 5+.

It's cute, but Berserker Assault is still better. You don't need FNP when everyone is dead.

If you got the idea from the 30k Channel, the WE player realised he made a mistake and was playing it wrong

Incorrect. It states that the only models that can join them are Surlak and other WE Apothecaries. Third sentence under "Master of Inductii" rule.

That is where I got it from, I didn't think that was how it worked but they've done two games in which they played them the same way so I thought I'd got the rule wrong which is the whole point of me asking.
