Hi guys I have recently picked up a grey knight/inquisiton army second hand and to be honest I dont know where to start. I have come up with a list but critique from experienced grey knights players would be appreciated

What i have:
Dread knight - incinerator/nemesis great sword
dreadnought - 2 twin-linked auto cannons
librarian
5 terminators
Grand master
4 paladins
brother-hood champion
3 strike squads (5 each)
puragation squad - psycannons
5 interceptors
4 razorbacks
1 land raider crusader

The list:

brotherhood champion = 150

librarian - nemesis daemon hammer, mastery level 3 = 140

4 paladins - force halberds = 228

dreadnought - 2 twin-linked autocannons = 145

5 man strike squad - justicar - nemesis daemon hammer
incinerator = 125
dedicated transport: razorback - storm bolter = 60

5 man strike squad - justicar - nemesis daemon hammer
incinerator = 125
dedicated transport: razorback - storm bolter = 60

5 man terminator squad - justicar - force halberd
1 daemon hammer
2 halberds
psycannon = 201

4 paladins - halberds = 228

land raider crusader - multi melta = 260

dread knight - nemesis great sword
incinerator

5 man purgation squad - 4 psycannons

1849 pts

any thoughts or criticism would be great as I am very new to grey knights.

Are you building something fluffy, competitive or inbetween?

One thing I'd say is take a Apothecary with the Paladins, and that the Purgators unfortunately cannot fill the role as the classic marine Devastators since we lack long range weaponry (cant park them in the middle of the map and let 'em wreak havock). If I have to use them I pair them with a Rhino/Razorback when I am playing the Grey Knights Brotherhood but those are fluff 2500 games. People will most def tell you to leave them and take a second Dreadknight in the slot.

GK Termie armour (including Paladins) is pretty awful. It's expensive and, on the modern meta battlefield, mostly useless. There's so much AP2 out there... Knights, Stormsurges, Riptide Wing, etc etc. It's better to stick with PAGK and use the saved points on better units, like NDKs, more Libbys, and Draigo.

GK really benefit from taking allies as well. Inquisition, Mechanicus, and Marines all have easy, lovely combos.

Indeed, GK are more viable these days with two or three NDK's, one IK, and allies like Cult Mechanicus.

I completely disagree. Terminators are without a doubt your best option for troops. There is a point diffferential with power armor, but it's so minimal it won't impact your list, which won't be diverse. We are grey knights! Terminators backed by tons of psychic powers are a real pain in the ass for the opposition and will require attention. Yes, dreadknights will do more then 50 % of the overall work load, which is why you need 2-4. That's how you stay relevant with the codex we were given.

Paladins are no longer worth the bang for your buck. With your list you need a nemesis strike force with Libby ml 3, termies, 1-2 dreadknights. The purgation squad is awful, as well are dreadnoughts, and paladins.

The land raider with all the current shooting is almost sure is going to grab a ton of attention. Playing tau, Eldar, or space marines it will be dead before round 3. Which is an expensive carrier for termies. That brings it all back to getting more dreadknights...

Hope this helps! It's what was given to us.

ForAnAngel doesn't know what he's talking about with the Termies. And since he has "Black Legion" in his sig, not GK, then it's not surprising he's out of touch.

Although I would never competitively expect to do well with pure GK, my 1850pt list would look like this:
Spoiler:

GK CAD
HQ
Libby, PML3, Soul Glaive - 155
TROOPS
GKSS, 5x, incinerator - 115
GKSS, 5x - 110
FAST
GKI, 5x, incinerator - 135
GKI, 5x, incinerator - 135
HEAVY
NDK, jump, sword, incin, psycan - 225
NDK, jump, incin, psycan - 215
NDK, jump, sword, psilen, psycan - 235

GK NEMESIS
HQ
Libby, PML3, DLD - 160
TROOPS
GKSS, 6x, hammer - 140
LOW
Draigo - 245

1850 on the dot. ObSec gives me some chance to hold objectives, while the mini-star in the Nemesis Detachment can get where it needs to go T1. It can start in reserves if necessary to avoid an alpha strike and still potentially contribute on the first turn.

Let me ask ForAnAngel this question: if you had minimum units of Termies for all the troops, that would be 165 extra points over the GKSS, without incinerators or hammers. What would you cut from this list to fit in the Termies? An NDK? Not worth it. Maybe the GKI, but the shunt-flame is a very effective strategy that's IMO worth more than the Termies. And losing bodies from this list is a bad move.
You could cut one unit of GKI and the second shooting weapon from each NDK. But again, the shooting on those monsters is what makes them an effective threat.
