My fellow 40k players, I am wondering what people's thoughts are on IKs? I'm toying around with the final look of my 1250 and 1850 TAC AdMech lists and I want to know if 1250 is too small of game to bring my Knight if I don't want to be "that guy"?

The current meta at my local gaming shop is on the competitive side with lots of SM, Eldar, and IG.

Do I bring it and just inform my opponent that I will be taking it so they can build a list to counter? should I just save it for the 1850 list and bring some extra Cult Mech stuff at 1250?

Either way I will not be playing War Convo, I just don't like and/or can't find a use for half the models in it. plus I'm not competitive enough to play it just for all the special rules. So the knight would be 1/3 of my 1250 list give or take points wise.

A single knight might be a liability at 1250. I think it's fine. They are not hard to kill for their points cost.

A single figure (albeit large) taking up 1/3 of your points seems (to me) disproportionate. However, the people whose answers matter are you local opponents. Ask them.

If your opponents are fielding something similar, it may be less of an issue. You can always apply a little subterfuge and ask the SM player: "Hey. I'm playing against Eldar next week, 1250. IK. Whaddya think?"

Yeah man theres almost no list that cant hurt a knight. out of courtesy i always let the guy im playing know im bringing mine just so if he was planning a green tide or something equivalent he hasnt lost before we start.

Facts are chains that bind perception and fetter truth. For a man can remake the world if he has a dream and no facts to cloud his mind.

Not at all, at least IMO. At 1000 I might say you're pushing it, but at 1250 that offers that extra little bump you need to be pretty reasonable. It might be kind of tricky to kill a Knight at that point level, but it's by no means impossible - 6 hull points on 13/13/12 is by no means unbeatable, even with an invuln.
Or, to put it another way: Would you have a problem with someone bringing 4 Predators worth of durability?

You can run 3 Knights at 1000pts, so I wouldn't worry to much.
