Been really digging putting together my custom SM chapter (Iron Hands). I am loving the Fist of Medusa Strike Force!

But I am having a hard time understanding the Iron Hands using a Chaplain. I mean according to the lore etc. the Iron Father is a mix between a chappy and techmarine, and there are no Chaplains. I know there a FW model of him, but I assuming the rules dont convert over to 40k?

My google-fu has given me posts and discussions from years ago, and not much good info on top of that.

Scratching my head around the fact the Fist of Medusa can use a Battle Demi Company - Captain of Chaplain, and it can also use a Strike Force Command - Captain or Chaplain. I find it odd that it does not include a Techmarine, outside the 3 tank formation.

So I guess the question is did something change over the years with a Chaplain for Iron Hands? Is the Iron Father just for the 30k stuff? Any insight on this would be awesome!

The Iron Hands are a unique bunch. They don't follow Codex Asartes that well either lol. Instead of Companies 1-10 they have clans which serve the same purpose.

The Iron Father serves as both Chaplain and a kind of Techmarine. Just like Space Wolves has Rune Priests and Iron Priests. They have different names but share the same purpose.

As far as the FW Iron Father he will work for both Chaplain and Techmarine. I personally use him as a stock Techmarine and put him on a 32mm base. You could say his servo arm is the special power maul Chaplains have or magnetize him to have both options.
