Was wondering how I could make the Deliverance Broodsurge useful in game. Essentially allows you to move your 11 10 10 open topped vehicle 12 inches, let's you disembark 6 and then charge 2d6 potentially covering 30 inches in a best case scenario. Only issue is that neophytes aren't anything special in close combat and only the leader can take anything remotely good in close-combat. How would you use this formation and run it in game?
Issues are if you move less than 6 inches and jump out they're not useful in the formation as they can do that anyway. But if you move 12 jump out they're only shooting snap shots, and a couple are bound to die from the dangerous terrain test. So webbers, mining lasers and flamers are useless if you want to get an 18 inch move and flame you can't. The double seismic cannon would be good jumping out if they weren't shooting snapshots.
So essentially there best use would be to capture objectives and get into good positions for table control etc. Also potentially useful in charging weaker enemies just to tie them up, or shooty units such a heavy weapons teams, biovores, devastator squads etc.
When combining them with the cult insurrection detachment the neophytes are given infiltrate which gives it to the truck too. So you can outflank or infiltrate them to be in a more advantageous position but you won't be able to charge of course. You can also get models back and use the return to the shadows with them if they're still alive.
Lots to think about, what do you guys think I should do with them, and what else I should run in a 1000 to 1500 point list that would compliment them the best. I'm talking pure cult, cult/nid and cult/guard
Thanks

Sorry, but the are not useful. The don't work with the GSC tactics, and objectives are being claimed by small cult ambush units. Armor 11 + open topped, just dies. And what are you going to use to bring down armor 2 units? Autocannon shots are also meh...
I see no use for them.

I don't really see a point to it at all, to be honest. Neophytes suck in CC as you've noted so their being able to charge after a 12" move isn't much of a benefit. They're okay tarpits if they're in a Fearless bubble so the Broodsurge might be a more reliable way to get them into CC than Cult Ambush - but the vehicles suck way too hard for reliability to be a given.
I'm with shogun. You'd maybe take it as an Allied formation or something, but for pure GSC it's not worth the hassle.

Well, since last weeks FAQ you can put Genestealers in them, so hoping for a turn 1 charge with them is a use. Your still going to be better off using massed MSU and relying on Cult Ambush though.

If you're going for a shooty build (which can really catch people off-guard; no-one expects anything other than SU spam) you can use the Broodsurge to deliver a load of flamers to your enemy's face if you want. You can also use the inevitable wrecks to bottleneck areas and almost seal off objectives.

The Doting Throng is a better option for shooty GSC army, in my opinion. Goliaths are decent transports, but they're really only worth investing in when they have tank hunter, courtesy of a Demolition Claw. You'd be better off spending the points on more Neophytes. I definitely like the idea of a shooty GSC army army, and while it can certainly be effective, it's not the competitive choice. Perhaps a significant shooty element is a good plan, though, instead of straight Metamorph/Acolyte spam.

There's a reason for that - BS3 on weapons putting out 3 shots max means GSC shooting is worthless.
