Hey guys.

I field a good amount of Bloodreavers and use a Bloodsecrator (who wouldn't). But I'm wandering which is better for a shield wall to march infront of my reavers: Blood Warriors or Chaos Warriors?

I'm thinking that some Khorne marked Chaos Warriors with halberds and shields could be very good defence for my Bloodreavers. With the 2" range, they can attack over each other and get a lot more attacks than usual. With the bloodsecrator nearby they'd be getting heaps. With my General giving them +1 to hit within 10" (warlord trait against Order or even the other one that makes their +1 to hit go off on a 5 could be good if I'm not fighting Order), they'd be getting the to hit of the normal weapons.
At this point they're getting decent to hit, extra attacks, able to get more in to attack with the 2" range; they seem pretty swish bang. To top it off they'd have 5+ saves against mortal wounds.
Blood Warriors also seem pretty sweet, getting attacks off when they die and the goreglaive is pretty fun and they'd be getting the extra attacks from the secrator all the same, but the halberds and mortal wound shields seem too good to pass up.
Whichever I'd use, I'd be using them to march in front of my Bloodreavers to act as a shield and can soften up the enemy before the reavers run past and obliterate what's left. I have enough space in the army for 10 of each or 20 of one. Which do you guys think would work better for what I want to use them for?

Secondly: Skullcrushers or Chaos Knights?
I'm looking for a good flanking unit that can destroy units quickly and can withstand a fair amount of punishment too. I liked the sound of the Chaos Knights at first, but looking at the Skullcrushers made me think. They have the same number of wounds but would be a lot easier to get all of them in melee as you only have to fit 3 bases in instead of 5. They also have persistent rend weapons which seem nice and the 4+ for mortal wounds on the charge. The down side is they're slower and when one goes down that's a third of your dmg gone with 1 dude.
I've currently got 3 lots of 3 Skullcrushers in my list, but perhaps I should swap them out for some Knights, or have both?

I'm interested to see what your opinions are

Chaos Warriors are tough buggers. The 5+ save against mortal wounds with their shields makes them superior to Blood Warriors, IMHO. Again, IMHO, I think they're kinda wasted as a screening unit for a horde unit, they're capable of so much more. But, if you can make it work, go for it.

I run Knights w/glaives, buffed by a Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount. Even without the Lord, they're quite good. I've never had an issue getting all five into base contact with their target unit. FWIW, at some point I'll be adding some Skullcrushers to my army, as they bring their own nastiness to the table, but I'd go minimum six for unit size. Three is too small. Like you said, one goes down, and they're not that combat effective anymore. I vote "both".

Hey, Ultra Grey, thanks for the reply.
I thought the 5+ save vs mortal wounds sounded amazing. I wasn't sure what to use them as other than defence for the reavers, as the reavers don't have a save but can do rediculous dmg if they get into melee. Do you have any suggestions on using warriors in other ways? I'm actually quite new to the hobby.
And the knights do sound good so I might add a unit in. Are they good in units of 5? And is one unit good enough, or should I chuck in two?

JMO here, based on the games I've played. Others here have much more experience, and hopefully will weigh in.

Chaos Warriors are my main infantry unit. If you play 40K, think of them as Space Marines. They're too tough and good at what they do to be used in a supporting role. 2 wounds, 2 attacks (3 when buffed by my Bloodsecrator), hit on 3s, 4+ save and 5+ against mortal wounds, they need to be in the thick of things, killing stuff.

Horde units, like Reavers (I have Marauders, because they get a save roll), IMHO always run straight for a Hero or MC. IMHO, hordes work best at tar pitting a unit you want to keep out of the game. They're cheap, and I view them as disposable. I don't need to kill your big nasty, I just need to tie it up for a few turns, at which point, there aren't enough turns left for you to do anything game changing with it.

Knights are good. I prefer Glaives so that I get -1 rend and 2 damage when I charge. In addition, my Lord on Daemonic Mount tags along and they get to re-roll charge rolls, and get +1 to hit rolls. In average sized games, units of 5 are fine. In bigger games, I've wished I had a unit of 10. That's why I have a box of them sitting here, lol.
