So I'm full-throttle into the new Tzeentch models coming in, and my local shop is planning on an AoS Grand Tourney coming up in mid-april (single elimination 2000 pt games, scenarios and some house rules TBD). Don't have the most competitively minded crowd, but naturally people do like to win. To that end, this is what I'm planning on bringing.
Leaders
Kairos Fateweaver (Behemoth)
Ogroid Thaumaturge
Tzaangor Shaman
Battleline
20x Tzaangors
10x Tzaangors
10x Tzaangors
Other
3x Burning Chariots
3x Tzaangor Skyfires
So, the only real gimmick with this list is with Kairos. As of now the tourney will allow us to choose spells from battletome-specific spell lores, choose artifacts, and roll randomly for command traits. To that end, the Tzaangor Shaman will pluck Treacherous Bond while Kairos grabs Fold Reality. The 3 man chariot squad rolls around with Kairos, who knows the spells of all wizards within 18". Thus he plucks Treacherous Bond from the shaman, links himself to the chariots, and once they dip down to one of three models remaining he folds reality to bring them back. The Ogroid meanwhile is probably looking at Arcane Infusion for +1 to hit/wound, which he'll either tag on himself or Fateweaver will take it.
Skyfires hang out with the shaman for passive benefits and try to snipe out key targets. Tzaangors make up the frontline with a full compliment of Savage Greatblades and Mutants (the 20man block receives battleshock immunity every turn from the default Command Ability). Chariots lay down hurt to clean out low-armor hordes, mortal wound spam from Tzaangor banners coupled with Arcane Bolt, Ogroid D6 mortal wound spell, Fateweaver D6 mortal wound spell, and shaman D3 mortal wound spell (Skyfires have a chance to aid as well).
Potential house-rules for the tournament include hampering shooting into/out of close combat (-1 to hit units engaged in close combat and if there is a unit within 3" of a shooting unit, they must fire at that unit), and adjusting incidental summoning so that reinforcement points aren't necessary (I.E. screaming bell having a shot in the dark for a verminlord that you can't really plan for, the plethora of spells that deal mortal wounds then summon a handful of models depending on damage dealt, etc). The latter would obviously ignore the limitation from summoning below a unit's minimum model count.
So! Opinions without the potential house rules? Opinions with? Discuss!
