Seems pretty good to me. Lots of variety, and nothing that I would typically not expect in a regular, balanced, Legion list.

Except there's no primarchs

What Rites of War are you guys using? That will affect the lists significantly.

Giving your Praetors Terminator Armor is actually hampering them as they can't run, can't overwatch, can't sweeping advance... they already have a 2+, give them an Iron Halo and they have a 4+ invulnerable.

For the Sons of Horus player, he would be better off taking either a Vet Squad, Reaver Squad, Destroyer Squad, Seeker Squad... basically just about any squad besides a Reconnaissance squad with Sniper Rifles, especially when he reduces the armor save to a 4+. This squad gets no benefit from the Death Dealer rule, and becomes much more vulnerable to shooting, with the only advantage being scout and increased cover save, in a game where cover saves are ignored often.

The Justaerins function the best with mixed weapons. Anything that attacks at I1 don't benefit from Merciless Fighters rule, and that extra attack is huge. I tend to go with more power weapons then Lightning Claws, and only a couple P-fists. For a 10 model load out, I'd go 5 Power Weapons/Combi Weapons, 3 Lightning Claws, 2 p-fists/Combi Weapons, and 1 p-fist/Multimelta. This loadout gives you the Death Dealer rule, and benefits from the Merciless Fighter rules.

The armies are pretty similar in power levels, with maybe the SoH player having a small advantage due to all his melta. I'd say be sure to squeeze out the points somewhere for armored ceramite.

Yeah there are all sorts of list tips to throw out, but on the whole I forsee a fun and fluffy game between those lists as is!

They both look like decent and balanced lists. The only marginally negative thing I can even think of is that you guys might get tired of mirror matches fairlry quickly, since it seems the core of your lists are really similar.

Beyond that though, like I said: these should lead to fair and fun games.

Thanks for the replies,

Good to hear seem close to evenly matched

Unit1126PLL we are very interested in the list tips which require representation on the models, as we are going to buy these exact armies we are looking at, aswell as paint them up to high standart. so the more well oiled they are right off the bat the better. Of course changing things down the road is all but inevitable, We would both very much appriciate any advice on the lists as they stand now.

I know my friend loves the look of the reconnaissance squad and will be fielding them for pure joy of the models

So far I got that I (the salamanders player) need to prioritise ceramite plating.

anything else that comes to mind?

Don't bother with iron halos on the praetors if they're in caraphracti armour as they gain a 4++ from that

For Khaela Mensha Khaine
For the Emperor and Sanguinius!

This is correct! I was saying don't put your Praetors in Terminator Armor unless you gain some other benefit from it (like deep striking or RoW requires it). Otherwise, it's cheaper to go with the Iron Halo, Paragon Blade, plus other options, and you get to run, overwatch, and sweeping advance.

Basically, there is no reason to put your Praetor in Terminator Armor unless you have to because of a RoW or you just really, really want to for fluff reasons.

mostly true. What if you wanna fire you're combi-plas and still charge

jokes aside: I agree whole heartedly, I love artificer praetors.
