Hi everyone,

Given the new rules for traitor legions, I am interested in playing Iron Warrior CAD for sorcerers and objective secured tank hunting obliterators. My main force is World Eaters. I have read that world Eaters and iron warriors are brothers in betrayal. So that's good. I just want to know what a fluffy use of my sorcerers would be. Ideally, I want to use malefic demonology to summon blood letters and bloodthirster to keep the khorne theme going. However I read that iron warriors don't use demons. So I'm not sure what to do. I don't know much about iron warrior fluff, so can someone tell me about what an iron sorcerer would be like? How would they choose to play on the battlefield?

To go full fluffy you'd prob wanna go with the Heretech as it fits the IW fluff.

Don't limit your self to much with Chaos though its an already under-powered army so taking things purley for hardcore background reasons can be bad... its not even that fluffy it's Chaos! you'd get an IW sorcerer summon daemons sure... just as you'd potentially have world eaters fighting with slannesh daemons... it could happen. You are already pretty much taking them just to get assess to obits so don't worry

IW are basically into fortifications, seiges that sort of thing and a focus on technology daemon engines, bionic replacements to mutations (hense why they have a 6+ fnp)

Well, Iron Warriors are familiar with Daemon Engines. I can't help but think having someone familiar with demonology could be quite helpful for 'negotiating' pacts and binding.

Generally, "soandso NEVER do this" doesn't exist in 40k background (it is prohibitive), even less so with the forces of chaos.

Although your World Eaters are uninterested in Sorcery themselves, they aren't stupid enough to be blind to it's benefits, especially in assisting with the conjuration of their daemonic companions.

One way you could wrap it is the sorcerer is a faction-unaffiliated mercenary (possibly an ex-iron warrior that previously fought in a WE/IW partnership?). For whatever reason, he keeps a personal bodyguard of Iron Warrior Obliterators.

Why Obliterator bodyguards? Perhaps they are there to spread the technovirus, explaining their obsec. Maybe they were unwillingly infected with the technovirus as a punshiment and seek a cure).

Yeah Nareik I am thinking of it in exactly that way. I think the Iron warrior sorcerers are old battle brothers of the khorne lord during horus heresy, and currently they are selfish mercenaries that do their own thing and get contracted by various warbands for their skill and weapons. They currently have three obliterators enslaved to them, so the combination of their sorcerous powers and obliterator fire power makes them very useful for hire.

But the Khorne Lord himself is not totally excited about using them, nor does Khorne himself feel the need for them. I guess the way I have to pitch it is that the sorcerers see something to be gained by helping the Khornate champion, so they have decided to join his force. For the upcoming battle, it will be to help kill some slaneesh followers. The Khorne Champion is motivated by his devotion to Khorne to kill Slaneesh, and the Iron Warriors are motivated by personal revenge on the warriors of slaneesh.

Ah, ice thread of commonality with the Slaanesh hating! I think that works well!

Personally, I view Iron Warriors as the ultimate level of practicality in siege warfare.
