Hi, I recently started playing AOS and have an army with ghouls. Thinking of buying a Mourngul. What do you think?
Does it worth it? not just for FEC, but in general
Thx.

Gathering the Informations.

Do you want one?

If yes, then congrats! It's worth it.

Definitely. It's a superb model and works amazing. I refer to it (in joking Flesh-Eater Courts insanity) as a "noble cloud giant".

The noble cloud giants are some of the staunchest allies of the noble kings of men and hopefully thou shouldst find one to aid thee!

Fair warning, this is a very strong model right now. If your playstyle is competitive, go nuts! If you play casually, one is perfectly acceptable, maybe even two in some circumstances. I wouldn't go further than that unless you're going for a hardcore list.

1000 Tzeentch Arcanites (Pyrofane Cult - Hysh) in progress

No, you should buy 2 and bathe in the blood of the slain and revel in the lamentations of the weak as they are driven before you.

yea nothing wrong whit the model.

death seems to be generaly on the "we dont care" category for GW, so you need all the help you cen get.

Thank you for your replies and sorry for not answering sooner.
I already have a 2000 FEC army and was thinking to add some variety. Just wanted to know if Mourngul was any good, since I can always put a Terrogheist in its place instead.
I am thinking of making a Neferata army with some skeletons and Mourngul seems a good idea, but if I have a Terrogheist do I need Mourngul?

I have 4x. But i mean, what kind of monster would run all 4x in a game....

37,500 pts Daemon Army of the Gods

35,000 pts - X - Iron Tenth

15,000pts - Firehawks

10,000 pts - Nighthaunt

Dkok - 1850

Point for point the Mourngul is top 2 models in all of death(Tomb Kings excluded) A Mourngul is radically superior to a terrogeist even if it has an abhorrant ghoul king on it.

Basically if it's a choice between a Mourngul and anything except a vampire lord on a zombie dragon(again, excluding tomb kings) it's 100% mourngul. Even the VLZD loses out to 65-35 to the mourngul's sheet flexibility.

Mourngul might be like top 10/top 5 units in the game right now, on a point-for-point look.

He is fast,
flies,
hard to hit in combat,
heals himself (when killing models),
very defensive un-rendable save,
also gets a save vs mortal wounds in addition to his death ward save vs. all wounds
hits very hard with rend -2,
and this is underrated, has a small base, so its hard for enemies to pile more than like~8-10 models on him

So competitively he is hyper strong, I wouldn't play him against lists that aren't competitive, otherwise people just have to feed him models all game and he will never die.

Neat model though, and the kind of help death needs if the armies you play against are tough!
