Okay, maybe I'm being a bit impatient here but I would have thought we would start to see some increased rumors and possibly leaks about the upcoming 8th edition 40K, especially with the release being within 4 months at the most! What's going on? Have the rumormongers all gone? We get pics and little tidbits from random people but that's a far cry from the leaks we would get in the lead up to previous editions. Someone please enlighten me!

Where is your source for 8th being at most 4 months away? Also, since GW is actually acknowledging leaks now, why wouldn't they stay tight lipped anyway to prevent premature outcry?

It's because there really isn't anything solid. 8th edition rumors have been floating around since 7th, especially because of 7th's early onset.

The 'age of the emperor' rumors are incredibly stupid, so basically any rumor mill that claims that's gonna be 8th's name is discountable.

Gathering storm isn't even over yet, and a lot of armies haven't gotten anything for them to use, so I don't expect 8th anytime soon.

If there is any quantifiable evidence or reliable sources I would love to see them. I apologize if this seems harsh or rude, that was not the intent

Why would they need to fabricate "leaks" when they have the community site for their pre release hypes ?

There could still be real leaks, but those are kinda silly. Why would you willingly risk harming the carefully planned marketing plans of your colleges / friends ?

Because you're just making things up and/or foolishly believing people who are just making things up.

It is funny to see both sides of this debate stating things like:

Rumor poster: Hey, just heard a rumor.....no idea if real, but I like shock value!

Reality poster: You're stupid to believe anything anyone tells you because no one knows.....having said that, I know that it's all fake and everyone else is dumb.

Except the people putting out the rumors are not saying that, they are presenting it as fact, and people take it at face value as fact.

You are partially correct. "MOST" of the people putting out Rumors are not "labeling/tagging" their posts with any disclaimer.

The ones that do don't do a good enough job at making it very clear they are just rumors, that's why every forum and game store I go on have been flooded with the 'wheres 8th edition' and 'whats gonna be changed in 8th edition'

I agree with that.

At this juncture, I would be more surprised to see Gathering Storm as the final campaign of 7th than I would be to see at least one more multi-part campaign and a late 2017 release of 8th. The original reliable rumormonger to mention a mid-2017 release for 8th (Sad Panda) has gone dark as late, so it may be safe to assume his source is no longer talking and that information may no longer be accurate, and Lady Attia hasn't given us much more than "it's coming soon". Four month is likely wishful thinking.

We know that GHB2 is coming sometime this year, and at least one, possibly two, major AoS faction releases are likely in the coming months. I doubt GW would want to release anything other than 40k within a month of 8th edition. They would run the risk of splitting their audience and reducing sales figures (investors only care about the early numbers, not long-term). I'm guessing we'll see 8th in fiscal year Q2 (Aug-Oct) at the earliest.

Why bother putting a disclaimer? Just look at how some members of Dakka react. Even with a disclaimer they will say it's not a rumour. So no matter how much someone says "LOTS OF SALT" someone will still come in and say fake even though the person says RUMOUR.

Also I would believe we all can make up our own opinions and know what a rumour means and not have to say "salt required" because we should all be big boys and girls and can come to making their own decisions. Sadly a lot of members on Dakka can't comprehend this.

So, on BoLS there was another rumor thread stating that more than likely 8th will be dropping in June. That's 3 months! Where's Sad Panda when you need him?!

If we go back in time I'm pretty sure BoLS definately, definately, definately 100% confirm plastic Thunderhawks at least 3 to 4 times over the past 6 years

V0iddrgn, buying every last rumor you see is a poor choice at best, and leads to rage when they're inevitably wrong at worst.

Well we know this from source more reliable than white dwarf(Atia):

-Cadia will fall in preperation for 8th edition
- 8th edition WILL NOT AoSify the 40k franchise, they will only gave it rule tweaks, GW isn't crazy to kill their most successful franchise
- From January till Summer, the release schedule wont be full 40k, it will have AoS and Bloodbowl here and there

So at least it's close enough that Atia can tell what it won't be for sure. And curiously Atia also says release schedule won't be full of 40k up to Summer. So either Atia doesn't know further than that or it will be very full after Summer...

Why would a company name their two game systems Age of Sigmar and Age of the Emperor, it creates mad confusion.

Especially if 8th isn't getting fully reworked like AoS, as it would mean the two game systems are incredibly similar but only one word in the name is different.

GW can't be that stupid...

To be fair it is not the big E running things now, and has not been for close to 10,000 years. The big E just sits on the golden throne keeping chaos from ripping terra into the warp while the Imperium does thing she would not have approved of such as worshiping him as a god.
