So I picked up 3 of these guys recently (because obviously they look amazing) and now I'm trying to figure out how to run them in normal-ish sized games.
Eventually I'll get a 4th and run them with Perturabo as The Iron Circle with his buffs, but for now I'd like to get them into 2000-2500 lists with an attached IC.
So far from my research I'm thinking running 2-3 with a Forge Lord seems like the best way.
Here's how I would equip him:
Consul: Forge Lord
Artificer armor- Free
Refractor Field
Cyber familiar
Cortex Controller
Rad Grenades
He comes to about 145 and has a 4++ and re-rolls armor and invul against blast and template to boot, 170 if I wanted to give him a Thunderhammer.
He can also heal the battlebots with his servo arm and he can bring T6 guys down to Instant Death range with his rad grenades.
I'm also heavily considering equipping him with a boarding shield, his save goes down to a shooting 5++ with the familiar and bulwark rules, but now the squad has defensive grenades, not that anyone really wants to charge them , but nice to have. And the look of that all together would be amazing.

Boarding sheld is almost certainly better, you should be look out sir-ing every wound he takes as anything shooting at the iron circle will be instant deathing him anyways so he shouldn't be tanking it. Boarding shields also help massively in the case of a Leviathan or a knight or other such nonsense that actually has favourable odds vs them, including rending militia which actually like this combat points for point. I'd also probably just give him a combat weapon to since you are going to be fighting anyways.

Cool, thanks for the input!
Modeling wise I think a Thunderhammer+boarding shield would look fantastic running with the battlebots, but then i can just run it as a normal CCW if points are tight.

I run my forgelords as a charge deterrent unit. Due to majority weapon skill and toughness rules, you can make the unit WS 5 to hit and toughness 7 to wound. I run mine with 1 domitar, in cataphractii with chainfist, cyber familiar, and graviton gun. They can't run people down but the Iron Circle Domitars already has defensive grenades and the forgelord has a 2+/3++.

Oh that sounds pretty rad as well! How have you found the Domitar fair without being able to run?
Wasn't thinking of the WS5 majority. You could also include 1 Servitor to use as a free LOS wound on the Forge Lord and still retain the majority T7 since they're T5. This is assuming that you can take the servitors as an extension of the Forge Lord...

You also have the option of upgrading a Praetor to a Warsmith if you want to keep the Servo Arm and want a Paragon Blade in there.
I get that Stubborn is kind of wasted in a unit of Fearless, unthinking robots, but the conversion idea excites me. Let us know what you end up deciding to do.
