Hey guys,

So a friend gave me a copy of the Blood Angel's Red Thirst Edition Codex and given that I have the models to proxy as this list (mainly cosmetic proxying), I thought it'd be fun but very risky to try. So here's what I came up with:

Combined Arms Detachment [ Blood Angels ] -- 850 Points
Librarian [ Warlord ] -- 105 Points
-- Mastery Level 2
-- Jump Pack

Sanguinary Priest -- 105 Points
-- Jump Pack
-- Power Sword
-- Inferno Pistol

Tactical Squad -- 105 Points
-- Grav-Cannon w/ Grav-Amps

Rhino -- 45 Points

Tactical Squad -- 105 Points
-- Grav-Cannon w/ Grav-Amps

Rhino -- 45 Points

Command Squad -- 200 Points
-- Jump Packs
-- 3x Power Swords
-- 3x Storm Shields

Assault Squad
-- Veteran Sergeant
-- Power Sword
-- 2x Inferno Pistols
-- 5x Jump Packs

Archangel Intervention Force [ Blood Angels ] -- 650 Points
Terminator Squad -- 220 Points
-- Assault Cannon

Terminator Assault Squad -- 215 Points
-- 3x Thunder Hammer + Storm Shield

Terminator Assault Squad -- 215 Points
-- 3x Thunder Hammer + Storm Shield

So I was thinking that I could run the Sanguinary Priest w/ the Assault Squad so that we have an Assault Squad with a FNP, 2x Power Swords, 3x Inferno Pistols, and still many, many Attacks on the Charge. Having the FNP on this Squad I think is mega useful and a little bit wasted on the Command Squad given it has 3x Storm Shields. Then I'll run the Librarian [ Warlord ] with the Command Squad. I plan to run both Squads very defensively until the Terminators come in from Reserve at which time I hope to unleash the fury of 4x Assaults alongside the double-shooting of the Terminator Squad. The Tactical Squads and their transports are effectively there for some minor fire support and objectives.

Thoughts?

Cheers

At my desk

-Blood Angels squads geared for close-combat played defensively? I get that the Storm Shields help with staying power but they'll still get shot. A five man Assault Squad isn't much for it either outside of CC so I'd get them engaged in combat immediately if I'm honest.
-Your tactical squads are not my cup of tea but they're likely to win back some points so no real issues there, but I would put them in drop pods for better placement and it gives you 20 points to play with.
-Your Archangels are fairly close to how I run mine and I've had success with them so no real issues there.

Those are my comments on your current list, and I think that in a semi-competitive environment (As in not total WAAC, but also not friendly, fluffy lists) you'll do well for a non-top tier army. My honest thoughts though are more along the lines of where is the Death Company? The Sanguinary Guard? The Furioso Dreadnought? Where are all the cool Elites that Blood Angels are known for? But that's just an opinion of mine and not actual list analysis

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

I've spent a lot of time studying the BA codex. JMO, but I can't see fielding them without Death Company. To me, they are an auto include. Furioso with the Frag Cannon is a good one missing as well. I don't care for the shooty Terminators either, but that's me personally.

From my reserch and the short time ive been playing BA, termies havent done very well for me. Id go with some DC w/ jump packs or some bikes/attack bikes and a pod or two with a DC dread or furrioso dread. Also maybe pop a 2nd psyker hq instead of the priest if you wanna go that rout. But thata just my opinion

For the Emperor and Sanguinius!
