I've started building my first plastic contemptor and they look amazingly simple to magnetize at the elbow to utilise FW weapons.

How many Contemptor bodies will I realistically ever field in one go? Iron Warriors legion.

I have 18 plastic contemptors on sprue and am now wondering if I should just keep maybe five and magnetize them. I'm thinking five as then I could convert a couple of fists with graviton guns in rather than bolters, and build one as a right handed fist.

Plus customising that many dreadnoughts is a scary thought.

Well a talon is 1-3 and I doubt you'd want more than that.

In a normal game I typically run 1-3 (1500-2500 points).

Unless you want to play the really bad Fury of the Ancients RoW then you'll likely never field more than 6 in a bigger game.

Normal contepmtors run about 175 to 200+, so 10 of them is a 2000+ points game before you take any HQs, compulsory troops etc.

If you like them like I do, definitely keep a bunch. Check out the Contemptor Cortus class, those are budget Contemptors that retain AV13 front and get a whack of special rules, generally geared to close combat.

Also You'll want at least one dual Kheres Mortis, and possibly a 2nd one because they are awesome.

I've put together a Dreadnought bash list from a standard RoW that includes a Contemptor Cortus, 2x Morths, a Deredeo and a Leviathan. Could easily fit more Contemptors in there, but I'm playing IW so running a pair of Domitar Ferrum for kicks.

Sounds like good advice, thanks. I'm IW as well though I haven't picked up any domitar yet.

Looks like I will go for:
2x left arm fists with bolters
2x left arm fists with grav
1x right arm fist with bolters
3x each weapon except for - 1x Cbeamer and 4x Hbolters and Kheres. Then I can run a single and dual weapon at once if needed and two mortis if I want.

Then I will have 5x bodies so can do three legion style and two more chaosy for 40K.

Yeah that's a solid start.

Standard contemptors are great weapon platforms too, since they have access to stuff that a lot of the legions do not have access to otherwise.

Consider making some chainfists too, a Corturs with chainfist is just under 150 points. Toss a pair of graviton guns on there and you have a big threat to vehicles.

I have a pair of chainfists so will do one with a graviton for 30K and one with bolters for 40K, I could always get a third if needed.

Why do you have 18? seems pretty hefty hahaha.

Facts are chains that bind perception and fetter truth. For a man can remake the world if he has a dream and no facts to cloud his mind.

I was going to build all the weapon options without using magnets.
