What do you guys think of Deimos Pattern Vindicator Tank Destroyer or deimos predator infernus? The model is so cool, want to find a reason to field one of these or both. I leaning to the predator infernus however I think it's no longer a validate model to field is my understanding.

Well that thing has nice range and is obviously lot better at busting tanks. Suffers bit on crowded terrain board since would have harder time to spot worthwhile targets while standing but when it can 3 twin linked S9 ordnance AP1 shots should be sweet

Got 1st one built yesterday and 2nd one this morning. Next to paint them. Got them for my sons of horus to provide some tank busting ability from range.

Are you fielding them for Chaos or Space Marines?

Rules for the Infernus for Chaos are in IA:13, rules for Space Marines are in IA:2 2nd Edition. It is currently valid for both factions.

Reallly? But I just read according to an Adeptacon 2014 pdf that the Deimos Predator Infernus has been removed and been replaced by the Deimos Pattern Predator. The previous link on forgeworld to the Infernus is also a deadlink now.

It seems to be removed. I am assuming that this means they are no longer legal for official play. So I am guessing they are still selling it for **** and giggles...?

Gw doesn't put restrictions really on what's legal as long as rules are made by them. Players are much more into invalidating rules

Is this something that you need your opponents permission to field though and valid unit in tournaments. I remember the old days where you need opponent approval for all forgeworld models. Glad those days are over.

The rules for the Deimos Pattern Predator Infernus are gone for two reasons that I can see - firstly they're published in currently-available books; generally the free PDFs are only available as stopgaps. Secondly. the Infernus isn't a separate army list entry; it's just a Deimos Pattern Predator with a flamestorm cannon in the turret. That's what the Adepticon PDF was getting at.

Yep, they took the free rules down as soon as they printed them in a book, same as they always do.

If you want the rules now you need either IA:2 2nd Edition for Marines of IA:13 for Chaos.

So could we get some comments about usefullness(or lack of it) of both tanks?-) Curious to hear particularly about the tank destroyer seeing I have two of them itching to get into the field!

Hopefully didn't waste money completely. Loved the idea and model so got them.

Infernus seems also fun though short range makes them tough to use on AV13 platform. Melta version might be bit easier to use.

I think both aren't particularly good, but probably the vindicator is better. It' long range and the fact that it can fire up to 3 shots can be great in certain army compositions that are tank, creature or even flyer heavy.

The infernus like you said the range is a bit short and even the melt a ordnance. I imagine that you might even end up blowing yourself up in some incidents with the ordance drift.

I just think both the models looks awesome especially the vindicator that you got. I am just leaning the infernus simply because of the fluff a since I play Salam Ander.

The Vindicator Tank Destroyer is aces. Compared to a tri-las Predator, you are more vulnerable to a Weapon Destroyed result and you're out of luck if you don't have a target in Line of Sight and have to move, but in exchange all of your shots get twin linked, (Getting you half an extra hit, on average,) you get two dice to penetrate armor thanks to the Ordnance rule, and you are twice as likely to get an Explodes! Result. In fact, assuming no cover, you're looking at about a 1/3rd chance of exploding a Land Raider, and a reliable two hull points even if you don't.

It has all of the usual tank weaknesses, namely that, well... It's a tank in an edition that hates tanks, but it's still pretty great once you get over that (admittedly major) problem.
