I'm becoming really interested in this faction. For a while I've been wondering how GW can handle future human Order armies and I think this could be a great example. I mean, who wouldn't like an army of wizards? And I say that as a Khorne Bloodbound player!

What is the current fluff for the Collegiate Arcane? I'm embarrassed to ask this but are the eight winds of magic and horses still a thing in AoS?

How would you go about making the Collegiate Arcane into a stand alone army? Here's some of my suggestions:

Create units of apprentices to act as their battleline troops. They're not quite wizards who can't cast real spells (they aren't that far ahead in their training) but they can use a missile weapon that's a stand in for minor magic. Think order versions of Kairic Acolytes.

Mounts. Let them take Demigryphs and Pegasi as mounts, in addition to horses. And Gryph-Hounds too. And if they ride these, they open them up as options for the apprentices too.

Keep the Celestial Hurricanum and Luminark of Hysh as their artillery type weapons, and create more versions of them for some of the other orders.

What do you guys think?

Going by the city of secrets they seem more like the mage guilds/organizations from elder scrolls in my opinion. The head of a branch is called an arch mage and going by the pantheon short story humans can now master more than one wind of magic. I do think when GW updates them they will be in a DOT style tome with free guild and devoted of sigmar.

As far as the horses you mentioned, the current warscrolls for Battlemages doesn't give them any benefits for taking a faithful steed - it's not even listed as an available option! - however the legacy warscroll from the Empire gives them the chance to do so. I would like to see this migrated over to future printings of Order Human battletomes, otherwise I have no problems fielding them as elven archmages (who can mount up).

It would be cool if GW ever made more variants for the Luminark: I've had ideas for a giant brazier for the lore of Fire, a huge mobile mausoleum for Death, a hanging garden for Life, and a hypnotist's pendulum or mirror for Shadow, and would love to see what the master sculptors at Nottingham come up with if they had the funding. I'd generally like to see all the lores be represented with a fancy chariot/ doom laser of some kind.

Now you're talking.

I think they deserve a wide variety of steeds, and they should make as many of those big carts as they can. For Shyish, remember the purple sun of Xereus? How about something that creates that?

Here I am immediately reminded of an earlier scheme where I would create a "rift" terrain piece - suspended in space by, something - by creating the actual rift itself and filling the negative space with molten plastic. Picturing something like a 90s plasma ball, where the mold is made to look spherical with some strands and conical shapes pulling out of the surface, and filling THAT negative to create a Void Crucible (or something), well now I want to get some experiments going at the lab. Thanks for the idea and keep 'em coming.
