Managed to play my first match with my Sons today with a slim victory against Blood Angels. My Crimson King RoW was fun but without Magnus seemed to lack some punch.

What are people's experience with the Son's on the tabletop now that they are out?

"I was never a Son of Horus. I was and remain a Luna Wolf. A proud son of Cthonia, a loyal servant of the Emperor."

Recasts are like Fight Cub. No one talks about it, but more people do it then you realize.

Armies.
Luna Wolves 4,000 Points
Thousand Sons 4,000 Points.

Their cult bonuses feel quite strong, if used cleverly, making them a top legion IMO. Psychic characters and force swords are fluffy and pretty good but you do pay the points for it.

Asphyx is good if used properly, about right costing. The soul blaze plasma cannon is just stupid.

Sekhmet are very points efficient IMo. And quite easy to turn into super tanks. Top notch unit.

I don't see the sword guys being too useful TBH. Fragile and more expensive than the targets they want to kill.
The ammentara scouts look decent, but a but weak on paper. I wanna try and see if they can synergize with other stuff.

The dread looks too expensive on paper. Maybe 3 of them outflanking could work. No idea on the automata but they're beautiful.

Ahriman and Amon are both good, great warlord traits but sadly infantry and Not much flexibility(tho Amon gets two disciplines at least)

Magnus is incredibly good. Even for his high points he's a top performer. (And this is assuming the weakest interpretation of his rules )
Being able to drop mid range ignore cover ignore line of sight D shots is soo good. And his ability to buff up makes him a super tank.

Tested a mix-match list vs 40k stuff. Managed to deal with Necrons, but Grey Knights stamped me.

Corvidae Tactical Support Squad with Rotor Cannons and Asphyx Shells are very good up to T6 targets, and not very expensive.

Raptora Assault Squad with Combat Shields and an Apotthecary take a lot to die (they become more resistant than 40k Thousand Sons in melee!)

Haven't tested the special units yet (I'll try to do it today).

Voted Astra Militarum for a chance for them to get nerfed instead of my own army.
