I bought the BA task along with the Age of darkness army list and age of darkness legions books.
1. Now for the rule book, do I need the trio of books or just the book with the DA on the cover?
2. What are the next purchases I should be looking at?
3. "Taking a Dreadnought close combat weapons with underslung Assault Cannons" How please
4. I would like the go with a flat red that is dark. I am thinking of using Vallejo paints. Any other suggestions?

1. Initial Blood Angel rules are in Horus Heresy Book Six - Retribution. Not sure what book you're referring to.
2. What Rite of War are you thinking of running?
3. Blood Angels can swap some weapons for Assault Cannons.

The one with the DA, or Raven Guard or Captain Artemis if you are talking about the Core Rule Book.

I've really got no particular opinion on paints, Vallejo is nice, but GW's own paints have gone up in quality as well.

I was talking about the core rule book.
I don't know all the RoW yet, only the two BA ones. Was thinking about the offensive one, but the two jump squads seems a bit clunky and not sure which FA I would take.

Assault Squads are pretty neat, Terminators with Lightning Claws (or a Volkite/Combi-Weapon and a Lightning Claw + the option to take Assault Cannons). I would imagine the BA will be getting at least 1 Melee Focused Special Unit later this year(ish).

For Boxnaughts, the usual under arm mount should work. For Contemptors, just make it look like they have the 6 Barrels of an Assault cannon in their palm.

Technically six works, but if you don't mind waiting like a year or 2(usually people do), Angelus is gonna be all about the angel legions. So get the 2 red books, and then buy Angelus when it get released. BA are CC-oriented, so assault squads and the like will be your friend. As for paints, Vallejo is good, GW system is OK, but makes up the bulk of my stuff.
