Made in ie
Deranged Necron Destroyer

Hello all,

Recently my Necron army has gotten quite big and needs something to store them into so that they stay safe and portable.

I would preferably like a case that is portable(carry-on,bag straps, wheels and handle), sturdy, spacious and can hold models that have lots of spiky/awkward bits.

At the moment I have;
100+ troops (warriors, immortals, lynchguard, deathmarks, praetorians, flayed ones and my warlords)
3 Night/Doom Scythes
2 Ghost/Doom Arks
2 Triarch Stalkers
2 C'tan shards (Deceiver and Nightbringer)
Monolith (although it's sturdy enough to be cared on its own with bubblewrap)
12 Tomb Blades
12 Destroyers w/ D.lord
12 C. Wraiths and 3 metal Wraiths
12 Scarab bases
3 C.Spyders
Command Barge
Imotekh Stormlord.

I also have an Obelisk but don't think I could carry that around in a case.

I regards to the case. I don't mind if its a GW, KR or any other modelling carry case it just needs to fit my requirements.

Lets say money isn't an issue so please post both money-saving options and the best cases available.

Also, if this isn't the forum for this post then please excuse me and point me towards the fourm that would this post please.

Thanks in-advance for yer help!

I too would be interested in the answer here.

I thought the KR WHS6 would do, but now they aren't sure if they are going to make it anymore.

The Crystal Caste BattleHive looks possible as an alternative; but I'm not sure.

I was recently directed to the following in the news and rumors section. It might be what you are looking for. Otherwise, I have an Army Transport case that I like a lot.

Stanley toolboxes are a good thing to look at.
My particular one is made in two detatchable halves, has wheels, and is tall enough to serve as a chair. Cost about £25, which is damn tidy.
Stuff it full of bubblewrap and whatnot, or sort your models into smaller boxes which stack neatly inside. Thing's wide enough to fit codices in lay down.
(But I will note that the wheels are plastic, and really fething loud; rolling it down a back road is not something I'd suggest).

@Mightymconeshot

Thank you for the link.
That carry case does look good and it gave me my own ideas for a case (tin foil under a tin layer of plastic shoukd hold magnetised models in place). However, it looks like the bases of my models need to have magnets to stick to the shelfs. Meaning this wouldn't work if my models have no magnets attached to them.

Also, they won't be shipping them till Summer-time which is a few months away and I would like to get a case sooner rather then later.

Could you give me a link to the Army Transport case that you use?

Cheers

What could I put into the KR WHS6 in terms of models?

Is this the case your talking about? http://www.diy.com/departments/stanley-mobile-workshop-w255mm/66293_BQ.prd

If so it looks like it would help with protability ha ha.

I could (maybe) make make-shift trays will glued foil on the underside. Install a few removable bars so that i could have a height difference and then magnatise my models and not work about them falling over.

Or could just bubblewrap/foam the sides and hope my pile of necron bits dont break ha ha.

If the noise of the wheels is the worst of the problems then I say this case is a must if your looking for protability, sturdiness and somewhere to keep your models in the one place.

You could put duct-tape or a foam with a glue strip onto the wheels to soften the noises it makes?

Aye, that's the one. Only gripe with it is the tall handle isn't quite tall enough; I'm 5'10 and occasionally manage to kick it on the back foot when I walk. Nothing stopping you from strapping an extension on.

-snip-
I could (maybe) make make-shift trays will glued foil on the underside. Install a few removable bars so that i could have a height difference and then magnatise my models and not work about them falling over.

Tin foil (or Aluminium Oxide foil, to be precise) is a non-ferrous material, nor does it have any neodynium in it, so magnets won't stick to it. You'd be better off (and with less faff) getting 1mm mild steel sheet.
[Keep in mind that, whilst stainless steel doesn't rust, it's an absolute nightmare to work with. A coat of enamel paint (or even Citadel spray base) will protect the mild steel from rust and such].

-snip-
If the noise of the wheels is the worst of the problems then I say this case is a must if your looking for protability, sturdiness and somewhere to keep your models in the one place.

It can take my full weight sat on it [9 stone, 57 kg], but the bottom half is a little bit flimsy without being clipped to the top half.

You could put duct-tape or a foam with a glue strip onto the wheels to soften the noises it makes?

That's exactly what I've done to mine, but if the bottom half isn't sufficiently stuffed to stop the walls being able to vibrate, it still gets a bit loud.

That case looks like a beast! I can imagine the amount of model, dice, codex, glue etc it can.

However it doesnt ship outside of the US and I live in Ireland... :(

I'm only 5'7 so maybe I won't have those problems.

Thank you for the educational tip ha ha. I'd say I would have something like lying around somewhere I might also have enamel spray but i will have to look for it..

I weight about the same so looks like I just need to clip both parts together so that the bottom doesnt go flimsy.

I'd say if the wheels had a thin layer of grip tap and the lower case had 3-4 steel trays with models bases ranging from 10mm to 100mm it might stop the noise issue as most of what i listed would absorb the noise/movement.

http://www.saboldesigns.net/armytransport.html

I just dropped the company page. I use the armored company as I got it on sale during a black friday. I think net it ran me about 130, 140 fully loaded with foam and shipping.

The owner was extremely nice. I emailed with what I was looking for and he talked with some of his players who use it and told me about how many I could fit in what.

I can almost fit in an entire 1850 Dark Eldar Raider/Warrior army if I was a little less then careful with rule books and everything. The raiders were slightly too large (Sails and pointy nose) for even a 4 inch foam tray, and as a young college kid I tried to squeeze as many as I could into a single tray. But they held 4 raiders each and I managed to inflict some minor damage when I jammed too much in but that was my fault as I got ambitious in getting everything in, not the case. I don't know the size of the obelisk, but I know one thing they recommended is turning a tray over and using it like a base and lid.

But yeah, when I fully load that it and pack it correctly it feels like I could throw it down the street. It is very solid (almost no wiggle room, like even hard to sometimes get a grip on the tray to remove them), they trays themselves are extremely durable and feel well made. The foam is nice.

If I had to go back and buy one again I would. However the only two complaints I have with them is the prices keep seeming to inch upwards and they were not that cheap to begin with and they seem to be constantly understocked and sold out.

Best of lucking finding something and I hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply.

On the site it says its on sale for $95 which is a good price. However they dont ship outside of America and if I was to buy off of a website that does it will cost about $180 not including charges.

As good as this case looks I dont think I could afford it. Cheers though

I've other people using things like tool cases with either thin metal sheeting inside, which models with magnets in the bases adhere to, or models glue inside the cases with metal washers glued to the models.
I would say metal sheeting in the case gives you a lot more freedom of what can go where though.

Personally I just use GWs old citadel case, works fine for me. But it's reaching the end of it's capacity with my current lists so at some point I'll have to upgrade lol, and I'm liking the look of that kickstarter case
