So! I'm gradually playing around with the idea of a 30k force, but have no particular burning desire to start from scratch.

I've got my Astral Claws army, and I'm basically trying to figure out which legion it feels closest to-- thoughts so far:

Dark Angels: preference towards bikes (was this already a thing in 30k?), manticore-ish badge obviously resembles a lion, plus it's pretty heavily hinted at that they're DA descendants

Luna Wolves: tendency towards brutal boarding parties/tendency towards heavy rather than fast assaults, badge again as kinda' similar, pride, charismatic leadership

Are there others that would fit better?

Dark Angels have a Ravenwing Right of War, that is entirely centered on bikes. Now the drawback for this is everything has to be bikes. If it's an infantry unit, it HAS to be deployed in a flyer with transport.

Luna Wolves are a strong force as well.

If you're army is painted as Astral Claws, I'd suggest Ultramarines, or World Eaters, as the closest in appearance. It's not "required" to be painted in the Legion colors, but if you're going to really get into the game, I'd suggest it. A lot of the players play 30K for the fluffiness of it.

Hmm, the RW option definitely sounds possible, since I already have a couple FW flyers...

In terms of fluff, I definitely recognize that bit, which I why I was trying to go with a choice that conceptually fit. Ultras are IMHO the closest aesthetically (blue and gold details), but don't really have anything all that similar for the rest other than I guess being good diplomats/tacticians. World Eaters are pretty far off the mark in terms of anything other than a passing visual similarity...

Going down the list:

Too sneaky/melee or fast: AL, NL, BA, RG, WE

Too down-to-earth/utilitarian, or specialists in non-similar areas: DG, IF, IW, Salamanders, WB, TS

Maybe?
LW, DA, Ultras (mentioned above)

EC (again, pride and specialists, but there's basically zero aesthetic similarity)

Space Wolves (don't know enough to say much, but aesthetically animal heads and grey)

White Scars (don't know how they are in HH? seem a bit specialized)

I looked at some of the photos in your gallery, and anyone would be ridiculous to refuse a game against such a nice army.

If you have lots of bikes go for Dark Angels. They look similar in color to space wolves in 40k or pre heresy Word Bearers.

What about using them as Blackshields?

Thanks, Gummy

I guess I'll need to look around, don't really feel the WB (not a devout faction), but I could see SW. Then again, I love the ancient SW logo from RT so I might be tempted to do a SW force anyway...

Hadn't seen blackshields before, Stompa, that could be neat, browsing around at the bits I could find on their background/mechanics.
