Here we have some guy that has everyone hoodwinked into believeing that a Space Marine Sergeant isn't a character for the simple fact that he doesn't have 'enhanced characteristics' despite all of the evidence to the contrary.  So my question to you is do you believe him and if you don't, what do you do to prove him wrong.

See, Ghaz..... we warned you that place was evil. I think my laughing started right around "give him a master crafted Missle Launcher!"

Ghaz-

It's simple. If the Vet. Sergeant is a character then he IS  a  character and all the rules for characters apply. Can be singled out in combat. If he can't be singled out then he is not a character. The stat line really has nothing to do with it.

not that simple ender, there's 2 types of character, Upgrade Character (eg vet sarge) and Independant Character (eg chaplain)

vet sarges are characters bought as a upgrade for their squad. they dont have full IC rules like the HQ guys do. so you cant allocate to him, he cant leave the squad, etc etc.

that's great Hans! although, a little too close to truth!

i think the old saying is:

"you can lead a horse to water, but it's hard as hell to drowned him!"

or

"never argue with a fool. all they'll do is drag you down to their level
and then beet you with years of experience!"

my point being that even if you could point to a page # saying you are
a 100% correct, somebody in this world will argue with you about it.
unfortunately, most of those people are gathered where your aguement
started!

I stopped going to the GW forums a looooong time ago and I don't regret my descision at all.

Wow. That guy is one of two things or both:

1. Someone who loves to argue and is just kinda trying to get you into a fight about it. He mite not even believe it himself and is just having a "Good ol fight"

2. A complete idiot

Oh, i musta missed that in the rule book. Where is that? Or was it in a FAQ? Either way, if you could point me to that I would be most appreciative.

Yeah, I used to read the GW forums. Then I found Dakka and read them less and less. After a few months of intelligent conversation, I never returned.

The funny thing is my gaming group says "Check with Dakka" if there is any issue interpereting the rules. We nevwer bring up the GW forums.

Of course not. Because discussions there are never actually based on rules. Oh, the irony.

vet sergeant are not IC therefore they cant be targeted in cc unlike an IC. they can however be tageted by a vindicare assasin (the shooty one). so you cannont target the vet serg.

you cant even begin to put an argument forward to peole like that its like you saying the black is black and they say no its blue, you just go round and round, what i usually do with dick heads like that is say ok fine you play that way cos it dont make much difference to me and then when i kick there arse i just take the piss out of them, either that or i just threaten them with violence while telling them they have no life and its only a game. if that still does not work i wait till they leave and just batter them in the alleyway and take that vet serg or whatever they were argueing about so they cant argue with some else later as they dont have the item or m0odel they argued about in the first place. LOL.

One time I got called cheesy for suggesting for some one to replace two cyclone missisle launchers with two assault cannons.

The only time I go to the GW forums is for a good laugh.
