Is it required to deploy a single unit on the table, or can they all arrive in as reserves? Just a quick question for an airborne army.

"Enemies of the Imperium, hear me. You have come here to die. The Immortal Emperor is with us and we are invincible. His soldiers will strike you down. His war machines will crush you under their treads. His mighty guns will bring the very sky crashing down upon you. You cannot win. The Emperor has given us His greatest weapon to wield. So make yourselves ready. We are the First Kronus Regiment, and today is our Victory Day. " - Governor-Militant Lukas Alexander, Commander 1st Kronus Regiment

You are not required to deploy anything. However, if after any game turn (not player turn, game turn) any player happens to have no models on the table, they lose.

So unless your army has a rule that permits it to arrive from reserves in your first player turn, you automatically lose.

Pretty sure it is at the start of your movement phase?
This is why null deploy wants to go 2nd, so they can force the other player to waste his first turn.

Would have to check BRB. But you can start with nothing down.

BRB p.133 Sudden Death Victory, top right.
If at the end of any game turn, one player has no models on the battlefield his opponent automatically wins. Units occupying a building or embarked on a vehicle still count as being on the battlefield, but units that are in Reserve (including Ongoing Reserve) do not.

BRB p.135 Ariving from Reserve
At the start of your second turn, you must roll a D6 for each unit in your army that is being held in Reserve - ...

So unless your army has special reserve rules (drop pod assault or other IOM cheese) you automatically lose the game at the end of game turn 1 with null deployment.

Yeah but you need to make sure you have a rule that lets something come in on turn one or else you didn't even need to take your models out of your case.

Yeah, you'll need Drop Pods or some other unit/formation that allows turn 1 deployment from reserves.
