Just like (I presume) a lot of people, I finally decided to go for Thousand Sons when I saw Magnus' new model. Simply beautiful. Anyway, I made a list that I would work my way up to (2500 points is the local meta most of the time). I would start with some quads, and then buy Magnus and the Sekhmet once they are released, and hopefully finish painting everything at a nice pace.

HQ:
Magnus the Red ML5 - The Guard of the Crimson King Rite of War
Librarian ML2 - Force Weapon, Artificer armour. Cult: Corvidae

Elite:
Veteran tactical squad ML1 - Artificer armour and Combi-plasma on sarge, 2x Plasma Gun, Rhino. Cult: Corvidae
Veteran tactical squad ML1 - Artificer armour and Combi-plasma on sarge, 2x Plasma Gun, Rhino. Cult: Corvidae
Mortis Contemptor Dreadnought - 2x Kheres Assault Cannons

Troops:
Sekhmet Terminator squad ML2 - Cataphractii, 3x Force Swords, 2x Chainfists. Cult: Raptora
Sekhmet Terminator squad ML2 - Cataphractii, 3x Force Swords, 2x Chainfists. Cult: Raptora
Ammatari scouts ML1 - Sniper rifles. Cult: Not sure

Heavy Support:
Heavy support squad: 10x Missile launchers (with Flak), Artificer on sarge. Cult: Corvidae

2500 points, 14 Warp Charges

Writing this from work (fight me, boss) so hopefully I am getting the points and restrictions right, but the list worked when I wrote it up at home last night. Might be missing some upgrades, but they are minor if so.

Librarian goes with the heavy support squad, giving them Prescience and shooting stuff from afar. Magnus goes with one of the Sekhmet squads, and they both deep strike. The Ammatari help them with that, provided they survive (which they should, really). Magnus gives some boosts to reserves, so hopefully they both come in and cause some trouble.

One thing I am not so sure about is my anti armour capabilities. Sure, Magnus will blow up something every turn as soon as he is on the table, but before that I only really have the missile laucnehrs and Kheres to blow up transports, not heavy tanks. Chainfists also help, but not until turn 3 at the earliest.

What do you think?

Looks legal.
Obviously no tanks makes things interesting. Heavily reliant on Magnus for AT.

Yes, that is the main issue I am facing at the moment. I play Mechanicum as my main army, with a lot of tanks. With this list I wanted to try something different.

Do you have any suggestions for making it easier to deal with armour? Local meta has a few players that use quite a few tanks, so only Magnus for AT duty could be rough. I thought about maybe giving the support squad lascannons, but that is so expensive. Could also go for lascannons on the dread I suppose.

Support squad lascannons should be useful, but to be honest you are better off with the missiles.
I would suggest change the power swords on your sekhmet to power axes though.

I like the versitile nature of the missile launchers, so I think they will do good. I will have to think of something nice for anti armour though, maybe some sort of tank. Will look into it some more.

Force axes on the termies could be good. With Raptora they will have 3++ and 2W, which should keep them safe with the low initiative. Good idea :-)

Yep, most importantly on anything you intend to see much combat ap3 isnt great due to almost every combat unit having a 2+

If you are worried about tanks you can swap the libby for a siege breaker with ML1 and corvidae cult.Tank hunter does wonders on missiles.

I see some problems the TS scouts are fast attack not troop
And a librarian may not be the best pick for a 2ed HQ as you can make any HQ a psyker why not get some extra bang for your buck

2000 6000 with Reaver Titan guard 2k
2500 (imperial force)
2500 (trimming down in 8th)
TS 30k at 5k points
Yes I have a problem

any independent character can be a psyker not any hq. Semantics I know but still a difference. Also they can only get ML1 not 2 as presented in the list. so if it is about getting the extra dice librarian is still a good option.

TS scouts are fast attack, but no prob since you still have space for 'em.

Beyond that, the list looks fine, if not pretty typical for a starting TS list. Look into the stabby marines we get as them rolling on biomancy leads to really silly times. especially if you put 'em in a dreadclaw

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

Thanks! Yeah, the sword occult guys seem silly indeed. If they roll Iron Arm they should destroy anything. Warp speed would be amazing as well. However if they don't roll on those powers I don't see them killing that much besides 3+ or worse. Terminators won't really care, even if the amount of attacks can be ridiculous.

Dreadclaw seems cool, but I really want them in a Spartan, which also could help with the lack of armour that I have. But that's a project for the future, when the models are out. Sekhment aren't our either, or Magnus, but at least I can start building and painting the basics of the army first.
