Hi all,

I've been having a go at writing up some rules for playing a mad max fury road type game. With the idea of one player using a 'war rig' the vehicle i had in mind for this was the Mastodon from forge world just due to it's size and such. This player would have their superheavy and a small team of individual warriors (similar i guess to kill team), on a rolling road type terrain, such as 3 realm of battle boards which move back every time the superheavy reaches the last one.

The other player would play the horde chasing them down, their army except for HQ choices would effectively be endless every time a unit is destroyed it goes into reserve.

Then there's a bunch of new rules for ramming, collisions, jumping vehicle to vehicle as well as making the superheavies a bit tougher, as I thought that as its the main target and would be shot by pretty much everything it might need some help.

I also started thinking of little game specific upgrades races could have.

Anyway it's in no way properly tested or anything but just wanted to see what you guys thought of it as a concept!

Look for the Dark Future rules.
They were GW's Mad Max road game. It would just need rules changes for the 40k vehicles and weapons.

The other 40k/Mad Max thing that happened to us...
Sometimes a family of 3 come to the club, for the dad and daughter to play 40k or paint, and mum comes along too.
Mum was talking to some of us about 40k, and was asking about the fluff.
After 5 minutes of us trying to explain the rough basics, she asked how Mad Max fits into it all.
Oh, how we laughed (discreetly, away from the chat)
When we pointed out that 40k meant the rough year it was all set, it all fell into place.

Yea i've heard of dark future, whilst being war on the roads I just felt it wasn't like what i was thinking of, a horde of smaller vehicle attempting to take down a behemoth before it reached somewhere.

Plus and this may be because I haven't read them in a while but the rules are substantially different to 40k and seemed to me to be a little complicated?

Haha, it's always great when people come into the store thinking it's something completely different from what it is.

The DF rules had expansions for big rig type missions.
I'll see what I can find.

IA Volume 8 (I think, the Ork one) had a special mission where you were on a rolling map. Basically terrain would spawn and would move across the map. Always wanted to try that one.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

The X-Wing crew that sometimes play at my FLGS demonstrated a 'Podrace' style game that was pretty fun. They piled all the terrain on an 8x4 into the middle to create a ring then raced around it.

Teams were built on the point system - 100 points per team, anything goes
Each team was given a number for turn order
Three laps
Inverted points for position table

1 - 10
2 - 9
3 - 8
4 - 7
5 - 6
6 - 5
7 - 4
8 - 3
9 - 2
10 - 1

There were a few interesting builds and tactics, not everybody just picked the fastest ship, some people destroyed the competition.

Could be fairly easily converted to 40k.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

There's a rolling road scenario in Gorkamorka. That's basically 2nd ed. 40k on a rolling road.
It works on the premis that all vehicles move 6" and then have the option to boost move. So instead of moving vehicles their 6" normal move you roll the road back. Vehicles progress across the board using boost move and of course any stationary vehicles get rolled back with the road.

It would seem that all you're lookin for is a movement mechanic that works for incorporating rolling road into 40k vehicle movement. Firing, combat and whatever else just works as normal.

I really like the idea of a swarm of small vehicles trying to bring down a big rig. Great scenario idea.
You could invent some ingenious wargear- like a mine that can be dropped of the back of a bike out in front of the big rig. Big rig driver rolls on initiative to dodge it. Roll a D12 for fuse range and measure that in inches behind the biker to see where the blast goes off.

all the special gear for this scenario- That's where the fun is at!
