Hi guys,

Firstly, apologies if this isn't the right section! Mods please move if appropriate.

I'm planning to make a trip to WHW this year to play a few games with buddies and I notice on their rules that your armies must be fully painted (no issue by then hopefully!) And you can't use any 3rd party models.

This makes sense, but one of my units has a set of jump packs that aren't GW.

My question is, has anyone ever actually been pulled up on this or known anyone that has?

While impossible to keep tabs on...I would wager bits would be fine, full models not (particularly not tanks, Greater Daemons and bigger more noticeable stuff).

This.

All the times I played up there (though this was going back a couple of years since the last time, before their current refurbishment), that seemed to be the unofficial policy in place (esp. WRT Epic Armageddon) as long as you didn't draw attention to the models you'll be fine.

They have changed their rules on this a few times. It used to be that a certain percentage of the model had to be either GW or scratch built. Then only the heads and weapons needed to be GW. At least once they have made it 100% GW. If you go on the WHW website and poke around there is an FAQ which states their current policies. It also probably depends on who is there keeping tabs, how observant they are, and how much they know about third-party bits on the market.

Vigo. Spain.

If they ask, say "Is a conversion" and profit.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

for regular games just going on in the hall they don't pay too much attention, I had a game there there Wednesday and not a single model of mine was fully painted and most were just undercoated. They only really check carefully when its a tournament.

Than being said, if you get a jobsworth on his first day checking everything like his life depends on it you are on your own .

I don,t think they will notice of you used different say spellcrow parts to make iron warrior termies if you painted em up right and such.

Or the odd part. Tjry cannot check every model for exact gw parts. A few will easily sneak by. Its extreme ones you might get caught up upon.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

I have no clue how Dakka's moderation work. I expect it involves throwing a lot of d100 and looking at many random tables.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

Thanks guys

It is literally just a few jet packs, but I do have them stuck on wraithguard (counts as warp spiders) so they are a bit conspicuous.

Will just try my luck and see I guess!

Bounding Assault Marine

It shouldn't matter a lot, if it is indeed very recognizable.

I have Plague Marines, consisting of Spellcrow Plague Legion legs, Forge World Plague Marine torsos/heads and a combination of Forge World and Spellcrow shoulder pads, and Spellcrow arms (with the Plague Knives) and a mix and match of backpacks, topped with Games-Workshop Chaos Space Marines Bolters. All on top of polyurethane resin bases I built, pulled a mould from, and then mass-cast myself. If it looks like a Plague Marine, and if it smells like a Plague Marine, it must be a Plague Marine, right?

So to be honest, the only 'real' GW parts are the Bolters, if you consider the torsos/heads from Forge World as separate from GW.
