Hi all, I'm a 40k player busting into AoS and am having issues deciding on army. Opinions on their strength's/weaknesses?

As I'm a Daemon player it would be easy to just play tzeentch daemons(maybe with h tzaangor skyfires)

Ever chosen (I'll admit I just want to use archaon on his dragon )

Or seraphon(I like Dino's)

I'm amiable as to how I play, but these are the three I think look awesome and am hoping at least one is competitive, Thanks much for your thoughts.

You can play a Disciples of Tzeench army and still have Archaon lead the charge, as he counts as a Tzeench Hero (it's part of his keyword list) and so he'll get whatever bonuses that a pure Tzeench army can get.

But yeah Disciples of Tzeench are super competitive right now.

I play Khorne Bloodborne, Tzeentch Daemons, and Deathrattle Undead. I think that my Tzeentch Daemons are the bet of those armies, but I have not played a game with my Khorne Bloodborne yet since the new book. With Tzeentch I have not lost a game yet out of about 8 games.

How's this as a first look(only models I'd have to buy are the skyfires)?

Herald of tzeentch - 120
Lord of change - 300

Pink horrors x 10 - 140
Pink horrors x 10 - 140
Pink horrors x 10 - 140

Flamers x 6 - 400
Tzaangor skyfires x 6 - 320
Tzaangor skyfires x 6 - 320

Battalions: daemon cohort of tzeentch - 120
Total: 2000

I own all this except the skyfires which I think looks awesome so wouldn't mind buying them at all. I worry at the lack of melee and no clue how it'll actually play out as I haven't even played a game yet, but I like to plan gak out, thoughts and criticism are more than welcome

I'm also unsure how artefacts and all that work so opinions on that would be greatly appreciated

I don't own those armies but I hear that Tzeentch Daemons are super strong currently and Seraphon can be very tanky depending on the units you take. Everchosen are glorious figures but pretty much impossible to field, as all the models cost too many points to be worth it.

The things I've heard for Tzeentch in particular is: Pink Horrors are some of the best Battleline of any army currently; Flamers are really fun and good; Lord of Change is a spell casting machine of glory; and any unit of Tzaangor is going to perform really well.

The list you have made above looks pretty awesome to me, from what I've heard and seen, though perhaps a unit of normal Tzaangors would fit in well, to act as your melee death dealers. You'll want a unit of 20-30 and a Tzaangor Shaman to accompany them or the Skyfires. Perhaps one of the Tzaangor battalions would suit, I'm pretty sure there's one that allows them to pile in more and also hit better with their beak attacks and such.
I don't know what you'd replace for it but if you wanted melee in the list, that'd be the way to do it

I had very similar thinking on wanting the melee blob to help speed bump stuff, and I totally want a shaman for the buffs. However to fit the cohort of tzeentch (gives all my casters an extra cast per turn and a 16% chance of coming back to life as the last model dies in every unit) is 1160 pts minimum. I could fit in a coven(the one with h extra beak attacks) but I would only run 3 skyfires instead of 12(they do automatic mortal wounds on to hit rolls of 6). How's this look?

Lord of change - 300
Herald of tzeentch - 120
Tzaangor shaman - 120

Pink horrors x10 - 140
Pink horrors x10 - 140
Pink horrors x10 - 140
Tzaangors x 20 - 360

Flamers of tzeentch x 3 - 200
Tzaangor enlightened on discs x 3 - 160
Tzaangor skyfires x 3 - 160

Battalions:
Cohorts of tzeentch - 120
Tzaangor coven - 40

Total: 2000/2000

I lose the mass shots of the skyfires but I figure horrors can be my gunline and the tzaangors all kind travel together for the buffs as a deterrent for people rushing my horrors. Depending on how good tzaangors do I may slowly just turn into a tzaangor army as I like the idea of skyshoal covens mobility (extra 9" in hero phase) floating around a couple blobs of tzaangors. Thanks a lot for the feedback
