I am looking to start a Seraphon army for AoS and have a few questions about them.
1. Where do I start? Will I need both the Order Alliance and Battleromb books/pdf or will i just need one of those and the GHB?
2. What boxes should I buy? Will the starting collection boxs be enough to start off? I was looking into the Thunderbeast Host but not sure yet.
3. Are these nice models to put together and paint? I like painting some models while dread a few others. Just wondering how you feel when it came to Seraphon models.
4. How do these models play? I don't really play cheese lists. I like to play for fun mostly.
5. Is there a lot of variety in this army? Would I be able to create several different 100-2500pt lists that can work differently via using different models and tactics?
I've been playing Seraphon since AoS was released and have a few thousand points and many games played and they are a lovely army to play and paint.
1. Technically the only thing you need are the free pdf rules on GW's website: https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Warhammer-Age-of-Sigmar-Rules If you want to get into the fluff, the Battletome has rules, battalions, and fluff galore! You don't actually need the Grand Alliance book at all unless you are interested in the other Order factions. One other thing I'd strongly recommend is the General's Handbook.
2. The starter box is a fine place to start. You get an awesome monster with two potential builds, some decent cavalry, and a good battleline unit. I'd add another box of Saurus Warriors to start and you should be good to go for a while. As an added bonus you get a free Battalion with rules specially for the Starter box models.
3.The Carnosaur is a lovely model and its quite easy to assemble and point (very easy to dry-brush). The Saurus Knights and Warriors are little older and not my favorite models to paint but I prefer Skinks myself. Still they are not hard to paint or assemble.
4. Seraphon are have several fun play styles. Saurus-heavy (the Starter Box) tends to be slower moving but hit hard, never really suffer from Battleshock, and can be very tough. Skinks are very quick and mobile but tend lack the punch of Saurus unless you bring Kroxigors or Ripperdactyls. You can also go monster heavy and stomp face!
5. You can make many different coherent themed lists with this army. Skinks and Saurus are the two major "factions" in Seraphon. You have slow-moving heavy infantry with Saurus Warriors and Guard. Magic-heavy with Slaan, Engine of the Gods, and Skink wizards. Monster mash and Skink screens. Very quick Skinks and super-choppy Kroxigors with 'deep-striking' Chameleon Skinks and flying dinos. Lots of options and variety!

1. I already have the Generals Handbook as I have an army of Flesh-Eater Courts as well. I think I will get their battletomb though just for all the fluff and Battalions. I also have the Aos app and might use it to see what kind of models they have.
2. I think 2 collecting boxes sounds solid as I would get 42 models intotal which is good for their pricing. Would 3 collection boxes be a bit much? I was going to get the new Kharadron Overlords so I have a good sum of money to get a few boxes. would you recommend anything else? Thank you fir the suggestions so far
3. Well I have a good bit of free time due to summer. I could airbrush all the smaller units befors detail to cut some of the time if it is anything like you described.
4. I love armies that have lots of ways of dealing damage. It sounds they are a blast to play with and against.
5. That is a lot of model types... I think I want one of each at least . Basically 3-4 sub-armies within once race. Unreal.
Thank again for your comment. You have persuaded me to the way of the lizards so far

Three Starter boxes isn't a bad idea at all. You'll actually have enough Carnosaurs to run the Klaq'tor's Talons Battalion, assuming you make one Carnosaur into an Old Blood and the other two in Scar Vets. In fact with the addition of one Sunblood you'll have enough models to run 4 different Battalions (though not at the same time)!
At the moment these are the boxes/models I have decided to get; 3 Starting Collecing boxes, 1 Bastiladon, 1-2 Seraphon Guards, Skink Starpriest and 1 Terradon Riders.
I am also thinking about Seraphon Skinks and the Thunderbeast Host as I wouldnt mind having 1 of every model. But, €140 is quite a lot to spend on 6 models (even if they are amazing models) and the skinks don't look like they are a good unit unless you have 20-30 models.
Do you think what I have listed is enough or a bit much for starting a new army?
