any tips for keeping a good tip on your brushes? rolling the brush with paint on it seems to do an ok job, but some of my slightly used brushes seem to curl slightly at the tip now when dry

Generally, some form of brush soap, after each use. The Masters is generally available from michaels' and suchlike, and works well, other brands like Pink Soap also work. Wet brush in water, wipe in soap handle first, tip back to form the point, rinse, wipe same way on a paper towel or the like to help dry for the masters. Generally I don't twist while wiping,, but instead rotate the brush and do multiple wipes. Also, if you buy taklon or nylon brushes, curls are just going to happen. That said I'm hardly an expert.

Vejut is right. Synthetic brushes are going to curl and there isn't a thing you can do about it. Look for sable brushes from Winsor and Newton, Rosemary and Co, Raphael, or other reputable dealers.
