I've always quite liked the idea of Malal/Malice, the anti-Chaos Chaos God. Constantly working to thwart the other Gods even though weakening them weakens himself, feeding off the hatred and fear of opponents to the Big 4. The one deity who listens to and absorbs the souls of every space marine or eldar who dies with the utmost hatred of Chaos on their lips.

The aesthetic of Malal has always been far more horror inspiring and grotesque than that of the other Chaos God. Where Tzeentch gets roiling balls of mutating warp energy for daemons, and Khorne gets mini-satans, the artwork for Tzeentch's daemons was always inclined towards the 'disturbing' end of things. Here's the relevant artwork:-


So this has me thinking. What disturbing/horror-esque/unsettling miniatures exist out there which would appropriate for use as Daemons of Malal? Here are the ones I've picked out so far:-

Zealot's new 'Faceless Daemon'


Kingdom Death's Phoenix


Maxmini's 'Beast from the Abyss'


Mierce Miniature's 'Three Face the Verminous Beast'


Titan Forge's Mass of Decays


Kingdom Death's Lion God



Now that's what I've come up with so far. I know CP miniatures did some of the Malal Hook Horrors as models, but otherwise? I want to see what other genuinely grotesque and unsettling miniatures Dakka can show me in 28mm!

Well, since you asked, my go-to miniature for grotesque and unsettling (and also hentai) always goes to the wetnurse:

If you look up what people have done for Night Stalkers in Mantic's King of War, some good nightmarish ideas there.

e.g.

Grey Knights. For the irony of course.

The Three Faced beast, seems a bit Nurgle

The Lion and Wet nurse, just seem Slaneesh


I do like that faceless Daemon model though

chaos furies....they are undivided daemons, so why not make them Malal's

I'm amazed nobody has mentioned the Pantheon of Chaos stuff yet.

I know Kingdom Death has a lot more pornographic horror models, but I can't say I'd feel entirely comfortable plonking them down in a games shop.

On the aside, I think the Forgeworld Mourngul probably does the trick as well.
