Currently have a lot of headless marines as I cant get painting the flesh right, I'm getting so frustrated.

Here are my attempts (go easy with the feedback/criticism as I'm a novice painter)

People will find it easier to give you advice with more information. So, let me ask you a few questions...

1. When you wash, so you wash the whole flesh area, or do you apply selective washes (or both)?
2. What's your current colour palette for flesh?
3. Can you be more specific about what you're not happy with, colour-wise?
4. What kind of painting techniques are you using on the flesh? Drybrush, layering, wet blending etc)
5. What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

He knows that I know and you know that he actually doesn't know the rules at all.

I have to agree, those look pretty good. They have depth without looking overdone. The colors seem good. You seem to be able to paint a variety of skin tones as well. Really, the most important reason I'm replying is to ask where exactly you see anything dissatisfying. It would seem to me there's something specific that you want, because in a general sense there is nothing about these that should be criticized.

Perhaps you could also post a Marine the heads belong to. Seeing your technique for flesh next to that for armor and adornments may be of help.

Nehekhara lives! Sort of!
Why is the rum always gone?
