I've got 2 5 man custodes squads from Prospero Burns and I'm pondering building a small custodes force. I think I'll assemble these as one 5 man squad with guardian spears and the banner and the other 5 with swords and shields and I believe I can take a banner with them as well? So a single banner in each unit if that's allowed?

Now I want to order book 7 Inferno, but I was then also thinking of getting something else for the Custodes. The trouble is book 7 has the rules for the Custodes and I don't want to place an order for book 7 and then another order for Custodes - I'd rather combine the shipping! So what do people think is worth getting taking into consideration the two 5 man squads mentioned above?

I really like the 2 contemptors - but then there's also that new bigger dreadnaught coming (Though not sure if I can wait that long) But I also like the Grav tanks. The people I play against do have some heavy armour, so I either run my custodes purely as allies to begin with and not worry about the armour (leave that to the legions) or I get something that has a chance against armour 14. What do people think is a good shout here the Grav-tank Annihilator? I don't know how expensive custodes are and as I say I'm in a bit of a catch 22 in that I need the book to decide what to get but I also want to cut down on shipping and order at the same time. Was just aiming to get to that magic free shipping mark if possible but not go super expensive.

I'm partial to the dreadnoughts personally... You could always add more units of Custodians as well; perhaps some of the Elite choices that they offer?

The gryfalcon jetbikes look great and are good anti armour with D3 strength 9 ap2 shots each.

Personally I will also be holding out for a model for Constantin Valdor; guy is a beast for custodes.

I would try to find a 3rd sprue of custodes so that you can build 6 of each. that would let you break them up into 3-man units if you need to, plus have one for a captain/tribune. The Galatus contemptor is pretty fun. I have the spear one in the box ready for assembly. Vehicles are pretty cool and very durable, but they aren't assault vehicles. Getting your guys into CC is the problem you need to solve for.
