Ok, so I'm making a custom Ork Trukk model and I'm having issues with a single detail. The issue is this;
The Ork Trukk is going to have a truck bed, a deff gun in the bed and a crane between the bed and the back of the trukk. I got the idea to add bullet tanks (not tread tanks, container tanks), that bullet belts stream out of and to the deff guns. This would mean two of them, one for each deff gun.

The bullet tanks themselves are shaped like a can with rounded ends, but cut lengthwise in half, then cut down the center again, so you'd have a fourth of the tank visible. (pic below, the yellow things in the truck bed.)

At first I was going to have the bullet tanks under the back flooring. You'd see it through some grating, which would also have a hole big enough for the bullet belt to stream through. But then I painted the bullet tanks and now I want them to be seen more.

The second idea I had was to post the tanks on top of the flooring, on either side of the crane. I didn't even need to start work on that to know where this was going; it was going to look phallic as heck.

The only other ideas I could come up with were
a) lay the bullet tanks flat in the truck bed, where there wouldn't be that much distance to show off the bullet belt.

b) stand them up in the corners of the truck bed, where there might be a little more distance, not much. I'd also have to design the flooring to have the back end of the bullet tank, otherwise the bullet tank would just abruptly end and look hollow.

c) The crane itself is going to have it's support covered in metal plating, but I could take the plating off the bottom portion and have the tanks INSIDE the crane. While I haven't done anything to fully visualize that, it just SOUNDS like it would look weird.

d) I could try and put the bullet tanks towards the front of the truck bed, where the bullet belts would then stream back towards the guns. The biggest problem with this is that I'm going to be adding a floor to the bottom of the truck bed, where the axles for the back treads will leave a semicircle extrusion. The extrusion I plan on leading from on side to the other, then having a single one in the middle leading from the back axle to the front of the truck bed. The bullet tanks are big enough that I'll have to actually have the floor end just short of the tank, so that it sits just below the truck bed floor. In this position, the tanks would cut the front axle in two places.

I'm at a loss with this. I want to have a bullet belt and I want to use the bullet tanks, but there just doesn't seem to be a place to put them.
In the end, I'm almost wondering if I'll have to just not use the bullet tanks and just have a pair of vents coming off the crane support where the bullet belts stream out of.

I hope I did all this right.
