Hey guys, just played my 1st game of 8th edition with my Ultramarines. It was a spearhead detachment with 30 devastators (two grav squads and 1 lascannon squad) as well as some grav centurions. I deployed centrally with two squads to the left and right and two squads to the front and back of Guilliman to get rerolls to hit and wound. Two apothecaries, Cato, and a librarian were with him as well. It was a pretty strong showing, wiping out a Nurgle Daemon list that gave my marines trouble on 7th ed. Did I play the 6" buff correct? Armywide hit and wound rerolls was insane.

You probably don't need many other characters. And make sure your tables have several big line of sight blocking pieces

He is definitely really good. Auras are everything this edition, and he has probably the best one.

I think my personal set up would be Roboute + Tigurus, and maybe one of the Anchients. This combo of three gives you access to basically all of the buffs SM have available.
