With 8th coming up im dipping my toes into death guard, i've got a tank company of guard that I just finished stripping paint from (Ebay assortment, 7 russes and a baneblade that I got for dirt cheap). Forgeworld pushing out indexes for 15 pounds makes me want to convert the tanks into a traitor guard nurgle themed force that might be able to mix in with deathguard. The main issues i'm having so far is that i've never done any serious sculpting with green stuff (minus model repair and simple conversion). Does anyone know of any decent tutorials that have been done on the subject?

Thanks

It depends on how mutated you want your tanks to look, if you don't want them to look demonically infested tanks you don't have to use sculpting to make those tanks dedicated to nurgle, paint them up in a pale scheme add symbols and graffiti, plenty of grime, oil streaks and rust. of which there are plenty of tutorials from military modellers that can help. Forgeworld covered some of it in the first model masterclass book.

If you really want to go a head with the sulpting, to make pustules I'd use round beads of various sizes, glue them in place and sculpt around them, but it's not something I've tried myself so I can't offer much advice except look for some generic sculpting tutorials here on dakka and youtube to see how it's generally done, tools etc.

Also try looking for work in progress or project logs by people making nurgle armies, dakka's gallery is a good place as often you'll be able to go though the image to their profile and find the blog.

You can go several directions...do you want:

1) Daemonic?
2) Rotten/pus/bile
3) Rusty/tetnis

I don't think you can have daemon-driven tanks anymore, but you can do the tank in any of those styles (or combine them). My Nurgle inspired force just features chipped/rusty tanks...and not even that bad. They work just fine.

I am in the process of doing up 2 Nurgle Rhinos.

While some of the crazy, really in depth greenstuff modeling (like the pic above) is cool, it just is not for me.

I did a small amount of GS work, a few cables, some battle damage, and planning to add the rust/corrode effect.

Aside from not caring for the over-the-top look, I am also not very skilled using GS. But making Nurgle-ish will it....well its hard to mess it up lol.
