Hey guys I've been out of the modeling hobby for awhile now and now that 8th is out I really want to get back in. So I bought a box of the Gangs of Commorragh and got all of the helions assembled etc.. The problem I'm having is that while everything fits nicely on the stems (love the oval stems) the stems themselves won't hold to the bases. They literally slip out of them when you try to pick the model up, I've tried swapping each stem with different bases and while some hold most don't. I came to the conclusion that I would just have to glue the stems to the bases but I wanted to ask you guys first before I mess things up.

I think most people do glue the stem and base.
If you're worried about storage and transport and that flimsy base breaking off (which happens far too often) you can try a magnetised version, with the magnet in the model and one glued at the top of the stem. It's not great and a bit tricky, but my friends entire jetbike army is this way. He used flat round magnets somewhere around 5mm. I avoid the stem, and like to model a base out of the clear plastic (for size and stability) with a wire or such attachment for jetbikes, then hide the wire in a bit of scenery, a plant or rock or whatever. I actually can't stand the clear plastic flying base material for my larger models like land speeders etc. I replace the stem with a long and narrow bolt in the base and a nut glued inside the model, then model a cool base to hold the bolt. It gives me a chance to make a little theme piece, as well as make the hold stronger. Unscrew it, store it and I'm golden. I do admit the bolt is hard to hide etc...but I'm not the greatest painter anyway. I have a couple of land speeders done this way on my edwardmystcreations.weebly page in the space leopards. I think this link will work.

Anyway, welcome back and hope you have a great time with the army!

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.
