So the unit whose rules I've been most looking forward to seeing has been released (albeit without points) and it has blown me away!
The Greater Brass Scorpion looks insanely powerful! The fact that it has increadibly powerful guns, can shoot all of them when in assault, and never had it's
BS of 3+ deteriorate is crazy good!
And who wants to be in assault with that thing anyway (not that you can really avoid it with its speed and special charge rules)? With 8 st14 (before half damage) -4ap
D6 3+ attacks, followed up by being able to shoot
2d6 autohitting st10 (before half damage) -2ap attacks, 10 st6 -2ap D2 3+ attacks and
D6 st12 DD6 (or2D6 if Vehicle/Monster/Building) 3+ attacks in its following shooting phase - when still in assault, either at the unit in assault or anyone else out of assault, it will decimate most things. Also if you do kill it, on a 4+ every unit within
2d6 suffers
d6 mortal wounds, so being next to it in assault is hugely risky.
As a
CSM player, why would you not want this thing to always be in assault?
The regenerate a wound and 5++ is just icing on the cake of a T8 20W 3+ model with that sheer damage output. I am very happy with this data slate!
How would you tend to use it? Get in the opponents faces and force them to deal with it? Could run a winged
DP alongside since he can't be aimed at. Or sit back shooting and be wary of thunder hammers, chainfists and their ilk? It'll survive a lot longer with the second option but will lose out on half it's weapons unless the opponent closes.
Also worth noting that the Spartan is also quite excellent and quite a beast in assault too.
Also very happy to see what my Renegade Laser Rapiers have to look forward to.
