Haven't taken my army out for a spin yet but I've watching lots of battle reports and it looks like Khorne armies are just getting shut down left and right. Which is the opposite of what I thought was gonna happen in 8th. Since I'm still building/painting anyone have any ideas on what units I should focus on for khorne in 8th? I'd like to have a decent chance of winning but I feel like I simply don't have enough of a feel for the meta yet.

thanks!

Khorne berserkers are actually really good at fighting. I don't know if shooting trumps melee this edition. Time will tell I suppose.

princes and berserkers seem to be the stand outs for khorne astartes. princes from the demon index actually have, for some reason, 2 more wounds and an attack more than the astartes kind. khorne Spawn are decent. I haven't seen any battle reports using bloodcrushers yet, but I imagine they stomp light infantry decently well and can threaten bigger things given a herald or some other force multiplier. Also big blobs of bloodletters seem to be decent.

The fact that CSM demon princes have a slightly worse stat line than their demon counterparts is a bit of a blessing in disguise, falling below that critical wound threshold means they cant be targeted if they aren't the closest target. I think Rhino rush bezerkers backed up with a few cheapish helbrutes is going to be quite effective, with a demon prince following just slightly behind.

Replace the Helbrutes with melee Decimators and baby, you've got a stew going.

Personally I'm trying to make my Assault Claw work instead of going the Rhino Rush route. I'm finding that it needs something else to support it on the way in, but god damn does it make a splash. The guns can reach out and touch something your opponent doesn't want removed (I used them to remove Centurions once, beautiful) and then it instantly assaults in. After a round of combat and most likely getting shot at, it still gets its full 15 inch movement and tops it all off with a six inch D6 S8 auto-hitting AOE. Being T8 with 16 wounds means you're sticking around for a few turns, especially after shooting the brains out of the enemy heavy weapons upon landing. Man I love this thing.

My main problem now is what do I fill this thing with? Kharn and Berzerkers is the obvious choice but that's only effective against infantry and even then, chaff is a huge part of the game now. Dropping down early means the enemy just swarms me with bullets and melee weapons. I've been trying to find ways to soften up the enemy a bit before my Claw comes in. Unlike Rhinos that can fire combi-bolters and havoc launchers in the turns up to charging, you don't want the Assault Claw removing models from the unit you want to charge in the turn in comes in and ruin your charge.
