Subject: Inquisitor Wyland's Crusade Force: 8th Edition Imperium Project Log
Hey guys, welcome to what I hope to be a project that encompasses the feel of some the darker sides of the 40k lore with the warband of my yet to be made Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Wylow and his loyal warband.
I haven’t written the majority of the backstory for the band as I plan to flesh that out once I build each model or unit. However, I do have a rough idea of what the warband is, what their goals are and the characters that fill out the warband.
The main idea behind the warband is a sizable crusade force led by Inquisitor Wylan consisting of his personal retinue, an assassin cadre, an Imperial Guard Regiment, and a contingent from the Novamarines. This brief prediction of what the band is will change as my ideas go in different areas but these are the elements I will make at the least.
Inquisitor Wylan’s crusade force is being sent out deep into the Halo Stars, which are in the Northeast of the Ultima Segmentum, wishing to reveal the mysteries of a portion of it known as the Ghoul Stars. Wylan has his personal force that numbers close to a thousand of various personnel ranging from former gangers turned muscle to savants close to the inquisitor seeking new Xenos technology and information. He has also procured a sizeable a small Nova Marine strike force and a Imperial Guard Infantry Regiment from the planet Eliria, a densely forested feudal planet neighboring the Nova Marine’s home planet of Honourum.
So without further a do a present the first member of Inquisitor Wylans Warband.
Xan "The Frenzy" Aldoh
Background Below
Spoiler:
Xan "The Frenzy" Aldoh (Eversor Assassin) -Trained by his father as a youth in one of the prominent Blood tribes of Baal Secundus, Xan exhibited an agility and ferocity both unique and dangerous for a boy of his age. His father, second only to the chief of his tribe wished for his son to attempt to join the ranks of the Adeptus Astartes, as was tradition on Baal’s two moons. However, this disposition changed when Inquisitor Wylow happened upon Baal Secundus during his search for information on the renegade merchant Axtin Duglas, a former son of Baal Secundus whisked away years ago by the promise of great adventures and exploration in galactic trade. Welcomed by Xan’s father into his Blood tribe’s encampment, the Inquisitor quickly saw Xan’s ability to parry a blow while simultaneously able to acrobatically strike his own attacks one after the other without pause, despite the weight of his sparring blade. The Inquisitor spoke of his cadre’s purpose and role in the Imperium, then went on to explain what Xan could become under his tutelage. With both Xan and his father’s agreement, the youth was whisked away much like the merchant whose deeds had brought the Inquisitor too Baal’s moon in the first place.
Xan hasn’t set foot on Baal Secundus since the twenty three years he departed and his father gifted him the Mask of the Blooded, a family relic worn by his grandfather during the wars that had made their tribe the second most powerful on the moon for over thirty years. He was just a boy then, but had quickly become one of Inquisitor Wylow’s top agents when he had come of age to participate in field operations. Shortly after this promotion to field duty he picked up his infamous moniker, “The Frenzy”, after single handedly butchering eighteen Rupran Guard before the illicit arms dealer they were contracted to could even reach into his weapon’s duffle or wipe off the spatter of brain seeping into his panicked eyes. Despite Xan’s notoriety amongst his cadre, his rage whilst in action has cost him more times then he likes to admit. The most prominent being the terrible fracture of fifty-four bones in his left arm during an attempt to stab his power sword through a thanium plated combat servitor. His arm, unable to recover from the violent injury, was replaced with a piston fueled mechanical arm designed by the Inquisitor himself. Despite his inability to suppress that rage efficiently, Xan has carved himself a reputation as a true specimen of combat willing to do whatever is necessary to accomplish tasks by those he respects much like his days as a young boy training with his father on Baal Secundus.

Here is a small preview of the Novamarine contingent as well as two guardsmen from the Elirian 190th.
The chapter home world of the Novamarines, Honourum, has many habitable planets neighboring including the feudal forest world of Eliria. As I finish more of the guardsmen I will flesh out more of the planets backstory as well as the backstory of the primaris Novamarines, both who will be joining the Inquisitor's exploration of the Ghoul Stars.
