Tempestor prime
(Command rod is must)

2x scion command squads.
All plasma guns.

I can't find anything else pt for pt that can erase all but super heavies in one volley.

For any imperium army for 203 pts you get all of this and 5 ratlings. As a vanguard detachment.

The ability to drop 16 shots of over charged plasma which is less of a gamble since you can order re-roll ones. Is silly yet very effective.

They are Sucide cause they should die shortly after. But if you kill that prime target it is worth the cost.

on the other hand Nobz they decided it was in the best interest of ork society that they "Go Green" as such they specifically modified their warbikes to not make giant smoke, dust, grit, clouds. Instead they are all about driving with clean air, one might say their bikes Gak out rainbows.

Don't forget you have to pay for 3 units starting on the table, and people can bubble wrap as well, one enemy model can block off an 18" diameter to you.

But yes, scions are probably the best deep strike unit in the game point for point and if your stupid enough to give them a landing ground near your important stuff then that's your own fault.

To be fair i really only need to be within 12 of what i want to shoot with rapid fire. Which that extra bit makes all the difference.

But if your opponent has something disposable 3" away from what you want to shoot then you're out of rapid fire range. I love Tempestus Scions and i'm playing them this edition, even bought the codex last edition!!!!!!!! yeah, someone bought it... but i'll admit a decent opponent will know what you want to target and bubble wrap it, i would.

The question then is do you deploy them first turn against something of lower priority or do you wait and see if your opponent breaks the bubble wrap when confronted with the enemy and gives your scions the landing zone they want in a later turn?

You absolutely don't waste them on something weak. Right now I see players everywhere showing like no restraint in terms of going for long-bomb turn 1 charges, or dropping everything turn 1.

Let your opponent space out. Destroy their chaff. You have until turn three to see what emerges, and the restraint shown might net you a super juicy target that earns back the Scions points and then some.

They won't take out a Russ or Land Raider by themselves on average, but they'll come close. Anything with an invuln save and like 10 wounds should also be able to survive (though most vehicles are just crippled at that point).

Been testing them for the first time today, except I built mine with 2 plasma guns and 2 meltas. Dropped them at 9" from a trio of Tyranid Warriors, used the reroll ones to hit order, and promptly vaporised them. 11 Damage with both meltas, even without the half-range bonus I got lucky. They still died the turn after that though, but I think I used them well. They'll stay in my lists

On average an equivalent point cost of plasma scions can drop 1.33 landraiders. But i've heard they're getting nerfed.

So today, I learned that Elysian drop troops can do the same for 2 points less per model (but... uh they have a 5+ save, so see totally balanced).

edit: Also, I think Scions look cooler.

You are very late to the party mate, even GW already noted that scions with plasmas are absurd.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

BTW... Elysian's aren't as good as Scions... They can only take two Plasma Guns per unit of four Elysian Command, so they don't have nearly the horse-power as Scions for their points.

EDIT: Or I am stupid, and can't read... and will leave this post as a monument to my being dumb. :-p
