So how are the Death Guard from the new Dark Millenium boxed set? It seems like it is a pretty solid 800-point starter, but I could be way off. I like the "Chaos Warband" feel, as opposed to "Chaos Legion" that characterized Chaos armies back in the Before Times when I was still playing regularly.

What are some suggestions to take it up to 1000 points? I have a Defiler and fancy some Cultists, but those may be bogus in the new edition.

Is it worth it to trade off Primaris to double up on the Nurgle-y goodness?

I've noticed in the various discussions that Lord of Contagion is inferior to Typhus, but very little discussion at all about the rest.

Thank you for any and all feedback.

Maybe my maths was off the day I quickly totted up bit im sure the points (when you include wargear) in the box is around 940, so not very far off 1k already

but I too am interested in a general tactica discussion using only the models in the DI box. Had a couple of games so far but hearing others opinions is always good

No reason to expand on Death Guard tactics yet I think. They'll get new toys with the codex and it will be a whole different army by then.

As for Dark Imperium box, Poxwalkers and the drone are best things you get in it. And the models are really nice! Lord of Contagion can probably double as Typhus, as Typhus is much better and cheaper. At least you could convert his axe to scythe and you're good to go. Other things I've heard good things about are Daemon Princes.

Poxwalkers are cool, Lord of Contagion can easily be Typhus, Plaguecaster can count as Necrosius (FW). Take the Blightbringer and you've got something nice. Though 20 Poxwalkers might be not enough for these shennanigans.

The Lord of Contagion is actually still a very good HQ, he just fails to Typhus . So if you want to go straight by the box set, you can take him.
Even though PMs have lost their CC abilities they are still great with up to 3Plasmaguns per 5.
Look out for First Strike, as it will give you three more PMs and some more Poxwalkers. Also wait for the Codex and a very probable multipose box of PMs with blight launchers.

And then... Mortarion .

The new 3-PM set also has blight launcher. They are mono pose though.
