Hello Dakka,

I am not super accomplished in my 40k lore, but I would really like to start learning a bit more, especially focusing on what happened at the end of 7th as we moved into the current state of events. Is there somewhere that offers a summary of the current state of ongoing events?

I hope to use this to gain enough of a grasp on the current lore to start a narrative campaign. I know bits and pieces, but I would be thankful if someone had already compiled everything into one place.

Thanks in advance!

The new rule book that comes with dark imperium starterset has a good law section that covers a lot of what your after.

basicly, when cadia fell the eye of terror expanded to split the galaxy in half, but luckly for the Imperium the Primarch Robute Gulliman has returned.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

I feel you should fill in the blank spaces left by GW as vaguely as possible. Using only ideas for the battles, as no one likes gutter ball strikes. [img] The eye of terra also ate a large portion of leviathans fleet. might be be a problem should they enter real space again in any system.

The wikia might offer some insight, I believe there's a timeline there that will tell you the key events. But some things that I think are useful for narrative combat.

The obvious being the fall of cadia, the aftermath is also an option, the chaos forces have already begun to fall apart, fighting each other of the spoils of war all the while trying to conquer the rest of the Cadian system.

If Tau is your flavor, around about the time of this. The Empire launched it's 4th major expansion campaign, when gw spoke of this they ended with some.artwork of chaos possessed butchering firewarriors, so we can guess what they met. They're also fighting with the Imperium again over the Damocules Gulf sparked by the recent warp incursions.

The same warp storms have also escalated the warzone of Armageddon, with the forces of chaos (mostly daemons I think) in some cases actually pushing the orks and the guard into temporary truces and alliances to fight the common enemy.

The Eldar/Ynaari have promised an alliance with the Imperium, would expect them to be alongside (the forces of) Guilliman, Cawl and Celestine if it actually is more than a "Eh,, lets not batter each other no more" type of agreement.

As for the Gorillaman, after pushing the chaos forces, namely the Death Guard out of the Ultramar system he went on to lead his merry band of Prime Smurfs around the galaxy to relieve and liberate imperial worlds from the tomfoolery of chaos (The Indomitus Crusade).

Fourth Sphere Expansion got swallowed by the Warp storms. It wasn't said if they were destroyed or just sucked into the Warp which means they could pop up anywhere in the galaxy (potentially making them relevant to the next major campaign).

The Fifth Sphere Expansion is underway. The Imperium might be weakened but the Tau Empire is now bounded by Necrons and the Great Rift as well as having Imperials to their West so they may struggle too.

Leviathan's assault on Baal was thwarted by Chaos. When the Great Rift occurred a warp storm swallowed the Hive Ships attacking Baal and Ka'banda destroyed Tyranids on at least one planetary body. Guilliman then rocks up and helps scour the remaining Tyranids froom Baal itself. Again it's unknown if the Hive Ships were destroyed or simply sucked into the Warp so they could go anywhere.

Chaos Primarchs are getting up to more stuff. Chaos is infighting again after their brief united push. Cawl is super tech savvy, may be using an actually AI, Gulliman doesn't trust him. Personally I'm hoping for some Imperial infighting but other than Guilliman clashing with Inquisitors over trying to create an accurate summary of the history of the Imperium it doesn't seem to have happened yet.

Oh yeah, Guilliman basically has the authority of the Emperor up to and including bossing around the Adeptus Custodes. So yaaaaayyyyy for reversing everything he did before he went to sleep. Well I suppose he hasn't reunified the Imperial Navy and Guard. Only Space Marines are trustworthy i guess.
