I have ten of those old small Obliterators and tried out a couple units. They killed some scouts but otherwise kinda sucked. That random everything roll was very annoyingly random! Is there a good reason to keep some like maybe for a future cult of destruction bonus thing or character? Or should I just convert them to fist/combimelta chaos terminators? Seems like those might be more cost effective and killy overall. Any opinions?

Or are mutilators worth any attention? I'd didn't think so but never tried them....

Blackmage is right and you have already figured it out, the current oblits seem to suck. An interesting rule for them would be "roll 3d3 dice and plug in what numbers you want where" or even "take the numbers 1, 2, and 3. Plug each number in where you want in the oblits line." But right now? Not worth it unless you simply love random.

There're about half a dozen good fixes for oblits but we need to see if the codex fixes them first. For now they're pants. muties are worse.

If you can stomach those old models I'd just use them as termies. They've gotta be near the top of the list for new chaos models anyway. Probably have to wait for new models before they're playable anyway! GW and their silly random chaos rolls!
