Hi, I'm about to play 40K for the first time tomorrow. I have a Command Barge and I was curious about how it works. There's a Overlord guy who stands inside. If I charge into an enemy unit with my Command Barge, the Barge says it has 3 attacks. Are these attacks being made by the Overlord? Thus they'd use his Warscythe stats? Or is this something separate? If it's separate, can the Overlord also fight while inside the Command Barge?

When the Barge is destroyed, is the Overlord also destroyed?

The barge and overlord are considered as a single model with a single profile for all rules purposes, the wounds value represents the both of them. The distinction between the Overlord and the Barge is just for thematic purposes (and probably mattered in previous editions, none of that nonsense now). As for the attacks, assuming you replace the Staff of Light with a Warsycthe, the attacks will use the Warscythe rules.

Good luck with your game!

Thank you very much! I've been watching battle reports on youtube to learn to play, and I think the only time I've seen a Command Barge was using old rules. I thought the Overlord guy jumped out when the Barge died because of those old videos. In light of this, I think I'll run it as the other version with the big gun instead.

The Catacomb Command Barge was a single model in 7th edition as well. It was only in 5th edition (when the 'Chariot' vehicle type was introduced) that the chariot and rider were separate models.

It was a single model Transport in 5th. It became a Chariot in 6th.

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?

I originally had it as 6th. That's what I get for second-guessing myself

I couldn't tell you which edition I saw that game from. I've watched so many, and the rules seem so different. :(
